Here are the "Goops"
The Marine in the blue tube is clear, the red tube is black.
Both seem great.
As for sanding, just use some 80ish grit paper and only a few swipes will be fine.Attached FilesGrand River Marine Modellers

I might add, automotive sandpaper does a better job than wood sandpaper.

Jeff.
It's not the sanding that's letting you down.
You need to clean the area with acetone before you sand. That's to get rid of the waxy film that develops as the resin cures. Then roughen it up with some 80 grit paper. & then wipe again with acetone.
Just sanding the area without cleaning it first just works the wax into all the sanding grooves. Adhesives don't bond well to that stuff.
I use 5 min Epoxy on all my builds & have never had a problem when following the above steps.
Cheers.

I agree with Paul, I added reinforcing to a Popeye recently, I did exactly a he detailed up there and its tough as nails. I did the same to a smash shark and also my genesis, they are all much better for the extra glass around the motor mount and its rock solid. I use polyester resin and fiberglass matting for reinforcing.Comment

This shows the glass work I did on this one, I also made a turn for it which seems to be ok, we will continue to tune it and get after it a bit. Once the owner / driver gets used to the new set up and starts to drive it hard.
This is the first run with the new pictured set up and added glass work, prop snB m445.

The poor thing never got to go in a straight line. But it did prove that your turn fin works.
You've got to find a bigger lake.
The guys at Sippy Downs have a big area for fast electrics. It is officially known as the "Sunshine Coast Model Boat Club"
All model boat enthusiasts and visitors are welcome to join us at our sailing venue at the University of Sunshine Coast, 90 Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs, QLD, 4556.
We are racing at Lakeside this weekend, but a few of us will be up the Coast the next Sunday if you want to come along for a bit of a run.
