    Xfactor,
Me and radtec both tryed props bigger than the 460.The motor couldn't turn them, at least with our castle controllers it didn't. Amp draw had nothing to do with it. Nothing got hot. Randy said his pro boat just cavitated and couldn't get on step with the 460 prop. You dont seem to want to believe what I have been saying. Youv'e had your motor for a while now. Wheres the data and testing. Let us know how running the big gas props work out for you. Everybody seems to be waiting for data but nobody wants to do the testing.

Mark, I have your motor and some big gas props. We could Eagle Tree this set up and run it on my lake when I return from Vancouver in a week or so. Several months ago I tried to run these large props on a giant scorpion inrunner with front plate cooling but could never get the RPMs high enough to do anything in terms of even modest speed. Experiment was pretty much a failure. We can also compare it to the new R2 Leopard motor we discussed.

Dont start my friend im not the manufacturer of the motor nor was I donated any equipment to do any datalogging. The motor I got is one I brought and maybe you havent noticed ive been slightly busy on the forum. Answer me this youve had it even longer whay havent YOU given any real data? My scale has alot going on my friends so when i get all the other things done which are in the process I will gather data but gee wiz I didnt make it should I really have to?

Secondly im just trying to figure out who though this mnotor would compete at 10 s and im merely trying to find a way for it to @ 10 s cause from all my calculation that motor wont come alive on say a 457 until your at 12 s and secondly why a 10000 supposed to be watt motor wont turn a 460 any better than my kb45 somethings wrong here my friend

Mind you I havent run it this is going off what you said . You say amps are no issue so your castle can handle 280plus amps?

                Xfactor,
I don't know why the motor wont turn a bigger prop. I gave the list of props I tryed and the motor should have turned all of them. The castle controllers can handle a lot more amps that there rated for for a short period. Its very obvious when a motor cant turn a prop. It doesn't really matter to me much how many amps I'm pulling when the boat is only going 20 mph after traveling a 100' then that prop is too big and I'm done trying it.
I dont have any data logging devices just real world testing with a castle controller. As far as I'm concerned Ive gone as far as I can go untill I get a different controller to try. When Joe gets back then maybe we can do some more testing with data to back it up.
I fly and build airplanes more that I do boats so I have been busy too. I just finnished a 60 size P40 warhawk and now I'm busy flying and testing that.

Do you have a jet scream too? Im not knocking the motor or your esc . Your greatly respected by me trust my friend I was just trying to figure out whats wrong. I mean the motors not getting hot but its not spinning the prop???I wish no offense that scott would send someone a different esc to run his motor.Randys the only one i know with the motor and a controller to run it. Randy whats the 411?

I have been waiting too. I don't want to waste $$$$$ on a controller that wont work. I have tried contacting little screamers, but they have fallen off the face of the earth after coming on here and hyping their motor. I have the hull ready for this to go into on 10s but don't want to burn up a high dollar controller the first time out. I do this for sport and dont have money to burn. I guess I should have left the gas motor in it!

Has anyone heard of good or bad use of the scorpions with the hv240? is it the same issue as the screamer.... also will the schulze v16 40-160 work well with a scorpion??

The scorpion is a different pole count and wind as a screamer so it should work fine with either esc. On 10 s and a x457 u should be doing between 60-65 with that scorpion. Its a good motor.

Dont mistake my questions about 280 amp plus scare you. On 10 s the guys are running pretty sucessfully without burning up esc's. On the prop sizes talked about on 10s you will be between 60 and 120 amps. That 200 plus amp figure is @ 8 s and props over 70mm.

The short could have existed before the heat up and failure. A faulty connector could have initiaited all that. A scorpion should pull that prop efficiently at 10 s no prob. I think that motor was faulty.Too many unknowns to be sure.
