This one is sounding more like a bearing spinning in it's race or something along that line. I was actually on the run to pick up the hatch from my DF33 when I heard it start doing it. It would start making the noise at full power and keep making it until you totally stopped the motor. Then you could restart and go a ways before it would start howling again. Made the trip out and back a little on the long side but it did make it. Don't know how many more it will make though.

On the other motor we have, it's been one that's died and been supposedly repaired by a dealer about 3 times now. I don't have a lot of confidence in it.

I was talking to Gary G here at work yesterday (he's a "real" marine mechanic) and according to him it's not that difficult to take the motor end apart on most of the trolling motors. The way he talked the Minn-kota's are about as simple as removing the prop and a couple of long screws that hold the unit in the case. If we can come up with part(s) we might be able to fix it pretty cheap. Does anybody remember what model it is?

shouldn't be to hard to fix.

I did some more searching after seeing the pix that Chris posted. I think this is the right kit too. I doesn't list a Spider 50 but does show a Spider 48. If you do a search for Spider 50 on the site it comes back to this kit s well.
Scott, if you happen to be reading, I make a motion that the club order one.

Probably not going to make it Sunday for the swap meet. However Chris has a couple of things of mine for sale. First is an new Swordfish 240A HV Esc 3s to 12s lipo with usb program adapter asking $150.00 cash n carry price. The second item is an little screamer out runner motor this is a huge 63mm watercooled brushless motor at 37.70 oz. Motor KV-650, 8mmShaft, Max Watts-8000, 10-12s batteries asking $100.00 this and the Swordfish HV Esc would be a good combination for a really big boat.

Looks as if the weather is going to be decent for the swap meet tomorrow. Low of around 60 (much better than the 30 we had last time) and a NE breeze around 10-14 mph. http://www.usairnet.com/cgi-bin/laun...=KSRQ&state=FL
The partially cloudy skies are a plus to me as I'm going to have to leave my popup shade at home to make room for all the "stuff" I plan to bring.

Hi guys! I really enjoyed seeing you and meeting some of the newer members at the swap meet yesterday. I thought it was a pretty good turnout and the weather was lot more bearable than the first swap meet!

I did manage to sell (hell, gave away) some stuff. I still have a lot of boat stuff left. Guess it's gonna have to go on the OSE swap shop someday.

It was also nice to meet an talk with Ben from Fightercat.
