I would like to come down this sunday & check out your club & see about joining . But unfortunately i have to work sunday . I wish it was on saturday instead so i could attend .
You know guys it may be a little longer drive but there are a few lakes around here that are always good to run in like the one next to my house called Cranes Roost I run all my boats there and it has never been a problem im sure it would be ok to hold events here and I am in the process of clearing that with the local authorities.
At our run today we had a meeting to discuss how to handle Snowbird boaters. They don't want to pay full dues to join our club. After some discussion it was decided that snowbirds (6 months or less) could join our club by paying a $10 initiation fee and then $5 each time we run. They will still need to be NAMBA members, for the insurance. Anyone staying more than 6 months has to pay the normal fees and dues.
On a related topic, guests (have to be sponsored by a club member but they can just ask one of us at the lake) can run three times. After that, they must join the club.
We are responsible to Sarasota county to be sure all running at their lake are insured and they must be members of our club because the club is responsible.
Just talked to Pete Forcier. He's still working on getting Pleasant lake for March 21st. For various reasons it may or may not work out. If not, we will go to Akerman that day. Remember to bring a shovel! If anyone has a pick, bring that too. A small wheelbarrow would come in handy also to move the dirt to scatter it somewhere away from the lake edge. I'll keep you posted regarding where we will meet that day.
Who all is going to the Waveblaster's meet on March 28th? Anyone want to share a room?
I need to share a funny response from a visitor to Akerman last time. He told somebody "All those guys do is just run around....they don't race" I explained to him that we normally do race with a start countdown, etc. but since we missed a month, we all needed to test and tune that day. Jeeez, can't keep anybody happy!
