No side bets for me, you, Bill, Premo and the rest of the Tunnel Boat Mafia have forgotten more about tunnel boats than I will know for awhile. Though Jeff will probably take you up on it, his Vision is wicked fast.
Well thats why we run a timed lap format on the Saturday morning portion. You get the course all to yourself for a 2 lap time. No traffic just the fastest boat around the bouys. Fastest guy gets his name and time on the board till someone beats him. A couple classes have been up over a year now. Makes a good challenge and even if your not the fastest you get a good indicator where you stand.

Current IMPBA P-O/B Tunnel SAW record holder with avg time of 3.358 seconds @ 67.004 MPH.
Owner Worlds fastest record setting Lynx with average time of 3.287 seconds @ 68.451 MPH. Smocktura Props!
The tri-oval is great. It changes the racing quite a bit. Just wait until you see the start of the mod-vp races. Its a blast watching 8 of them going straight out to the tri-oval buoy
Stopped by Ackerman on my way home from flying this morning. Lake is still looking good (no slime and the water level is still up). Looks like the grass was mowed about a week ago. It was shorter than it was the last time we were there but still tall enough to hide lots of fire ants. Our dug out steps have all but vanished with grass growing over them too.
I don't know what's up with the county! The woman has vowed to be there a couple of times now but never showed up. She also talked about the county doing something for us since the steps were ruled out. She did mention about some sort of permitting since the lake is a storm water facility. Also, their business manager was supposed to contact me a long time ago to work out the insurance, etc. but he has never called. Jeeez. In a way, no news is good news I guess. I'll call her again!

Some of you expressed interest in more T-shirts. I found a place where we could get them $10. Transfer rather than screen print. $10 for white. NO POCKETS. Logo would be on the front left chest.
Let me know if anyone is interested. Need to order at least a dozen.
no jim i have never seen a tri oval layout.......and am so broke i cant order a tee shirt this month......man it sucks to be on a fixed income with everything going up up up !
The tri oval is nothing special. Instead of coming straight down the back straight, there is a buy further out in the middle of the straight that you have to go around.
Don't have a picture but will try to describe our Tri-oval course
Take a standard 10 pin course Bouys 1-5 first turn then 6-10 make the second turn.
We remove bouys 6 and 7 making a standard sweeping first turn but the last turn is a shorter 3 pin (8-9-10).
We add a bouy about 1/3 of the way down the backstretch maybe 50 ft off the backstretch. (lane 20+)
This gives 3 distinct turns, a long front straightaway and two short straights replacing the backstretch. The first turn you sweep at say 150 degrees then to the one pin on the backstretch where you have about a 120 degree turn and then the final 3 pin somewhat less than 180 and back down the frontstretch to the normal start finish line. You really don't add much distance if you stay tight. Makes a fun challenging turning course fot tunnels.
