We have tried many times to work with the Brandon guys. It just won't work. They have a beautiful venue and all the ammenities. But, they have no tolearance for electric. I for one will not attend any more events there.Comment

Ray,
They have a new president. Don (the asshole) Rieks is no longer the Prez. He was the problem. There are a few of them getting into electrics according to John Otto. He thinks there would be no problem at all and even if we didn't want to run with them on a regular basis, he thinks we could reach agreement to use their facility to host a statewide FE race. Also, previously they could only run on Wed, Sat, Sun. but their new Prez talked to the county folks and they said they could run 7 days a week if they wanted to. Don Rieks never bother to ask!
Not sure why you won't attend any events there. If it's a nitro race, then it's a nitro race. It is almost impossible to intersperse a bunch of electric classes during their events because they are already trying to cram in a ton of nitro and gas classes. That's understandable. They have hosted a couple of outboard events with electric classes that went great. I missed the last one but the one last year was good. I think Hugh ran at this years and if I remember right, he said it was good.Mini Cat Racing USA

Jim,
It matters not who the President is. Those guys are running 60+ nitro heats a day. There is no room to stick in another 12 or 15 electric heats.
That's all I will say, stick a fork in it.
We can run organized heats at Ackerman, but the result will be You, Me, Mike, Jeff, Hugh and Larry when he is here.
No new members. They want to fun run, not race.
We tried to run some organized heats last year, it was a bust.
New guys please disagree with me, I hope you will.Last edited by RayR; 01-25-2011, 11:08 PM.Comment

I have talked with Ken and Terry with the waveblasters about going to there lake for a test n tune sesion. They have their regular club meets on Feb 6th and 20th. So we would be able to go over on Feb 13th or 27th. For those that want to go, which date would be better?Comment

Ray,
Oh sayer of doom, I'm talking about hosting a race inviting FE guys from around the state...like a Waveblasters meet, not a meet just for our club. Yes, there are only a few of us that care to race in a formal and official setting, but maybe the others who only want to fun run would help out in putting on the race. I think Ken Haines, Terry Cowger, Jason Simms, Don Woolard, etc. would like to see us put something on from conversations I have had with them in the past. We are currently discussing going over to the Waveblasters to run with them. If there is interest in driving 3.5 hours to go over there, why would you object to having something here?
But then if you don't want to participate, so be it.

Looks like those dates fall on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month to me. Weather permitting I'd rather run Ackerman myself.Comment

So, are the new guys there to race or fart around? Id think that the majority of us newbs are there to race. Those who are there to just run for fun when theres no heats going on, thats fine w/ me I have no problem at all. Hell, I join in at times. But, If all I wanted to just sport run, Id kept my money and walked out my back door. Dont need a club and dont need NAMBA to do that.Comment

Brian, you realize to race you have to start and finish to win right?Im just givin you Wed morning hasle man....
On another note, although theres is not a "class" for it, A few of us have twin boats. I know Kong has a BJ, my neighbor is building a BJ twin, Ive got a HOTR, RICHt is building a twin EKOS. It would be kinda cool to have a twin class race once in a while. Like a 4S set up w/ whatever motors you want. Lets face it, a 26 or 32" hull isnt going to do well going 70 around that course, Ive put 4S in mine now on the same set up it had before, Im probably running upper 40s and its an absolute pleasure to drive. No, its not class related (I dont think), yes, some may think it is a waste of time, but Id think it would be pretty sweet to hear 3 or 4 twins running out there.Comment

HOWEVER, If we do not try to run a somewhat organized race, by the rules, how is a newb like me supposed to feel encouraged to go to someplace like Waveblaster, Brandon etc. I will not go because of that reason. Im not ready, I dont know all the rules and I still have a lot to figure out. Without racing, I will never learn the ins and outs of it.Comment
