    Refuse the box exists!

The wind is starting to die a little! Sounds like a run is in order. If nothing else, I'm going to try the Viper on Nimh since my ESC is still in need of repair.

I can't wait to program the other one I have! => to change timing, wait for ESC to play "Smoke on the Water" two and a half times, then shake transmitter while applying brake and 30% to the left... Incidentally, while I was working on my receiver, I tried fixing Dirty's old Hextronic120. It now arms, but no throttle. I think it may be a lost cause. Oh well.

If I'm lucky, I'll get to run the CF micro. We'll have to wait and see.

Any luck with those pictures Diego??? They looked great when I saw them on the cameras with the Cape Henry Boat Club guys.

      Meniscus,
      None yet.

Egneg, Here's what the latest talk has been, I can't call you since I transformed my cell phone into a frickin' brick.

Sizes are measured from the fwd most point to the rear most transom.

      Micro size class = 1" - 16" long
      Mini size class = 16.01" - 21" long
      Standard size class = 21.01" - 30" long
Large size class = 30.01" and up <-- AKA the DuncanJerry Class!

      Mono class
Catamaran class (to include Tunnel hulls)
      Hydro class
Rigger class (to include Canard hulls)

Please offer up suggestions if any.

Don't forget the flag for fastest boat in the club of any size. We all know that DuncanJerry will probably hold that, but hopefully the rigger builds will approach and challenge.

I got my wife to come out and I attempted to run the Viper last night. I made it 6 feet from shore and the receiver started to give me trouble. So much for that idea.

I ran the CF micro though. I set it up real wet and it was super stable on the water. I jumped over wake with no problem at all. Speeds were 32 to 33 mph. I'm sure it will pick up some speed when I change the COG to loosen her up a little and try another prop. In any case, I am very pleased with this little micro. Plus it looks great in carbon fiber, screaming across the water.

Well, managed a run this evening.

I got a little upset about the receiver I lost. I took another whack at the board and it now works perfectly!!!

I tried the Viper on Nimh. I didn't turn out so well. Cavitated and when it finally got on plane, the batteries gave out.

Next I tried the Viper on lipos, 4s1p => 2 - 2s in series. It ran great! I caught an edge once and it flipped, but this was mainly due to the short pushrod linkage I need to replace so that I can appropriately center the servo. I ran on the SuperSimple 100A and it held together. Only did a short run after I got her back to shore and fliped her over. It ran great and turned like it was on rails. Speed estimated at just over 40 mph.

Before the sun started setting, I put the CF hydro out on the new lipo. This time I set the battery back a little bit. It ran great and was doing every bit of 40 mph, not quite at full throttle, just a little shy. It seemed to be setup pretty well, but I'd like to try a different prop next.

All in all, great day at the pond. I am beginning to believe that my remaining Nimh are not doing well at all. There's no reason why they should have discharged that fast, especially since I topped them off before I went out to the pond. Such is life.

I wish I had a video camera or a radar gun. I think here in the near future, I'll get a radar gun so that we can have it at the pond. That way we can have it for the riggers!

I got the caps today to try on the other ESC that quit 3 or so weeks back. We'll see. The board looks a little strange. I appears as though the caps will be side by side with the polarity backwards in relation to another
                          => + - - + We'll see how it goes.
