Hey Fem's, pardon me for crashing your site. I know your club runs just for fun but I was wondering if any of you race organized events I know there is a IMPBA District 12 club in Chesapeake.

That would be the "Old dominion model boat club" They run Gas and nitro. I have been to their events (Dirty was one of their racers) but I have been told... "KEEP YOUR ELECTRIC BOATS OUT OF THE WATER"

"A quick temper will make a fool of you soon enough."

        Oh REALLY..........

Straight out of the IMPBA District 12 mission statement it says: "District 12 Supports Gasoline, Nitro Glow Fuel and Fast Electric Boats."

Hypothetical: If they started allowing FE's and included FE classes in their club and IMPBA sanctioned races, would any of you consider joining or would this be your responce?

For my vote, I don't think I would join them to run. But, I'm not interested in all of the competitive attitude. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind some friendly competition, but I don't care for the "Mine's better than yours" or "I'm better than you". I could care less!

Nautiboyz, do you ever get down this way?

For the record, I am enjoying our most recent addition to flags for the club. I don't have one yet and may not have one at all, but I'm still enjoying it!

The only thing I don't like is this rule that Diegoboy told me about. Apparently, my boat has to be under its own power. I guess my shore slingshot system (SSS) isn't admissible. LMAO

I'm still trying to figure out what hull type for the flag I'm going after. I have a feeling that Diegoboy's rigger is going to have trouble with mine after its done. But then again, I haven't seen the power plant that's going into his. I may have to make it a longer race and adjust for a longer run time! LOL

I see where you’re coming from and I don't blame you for not wanting to join. You guys have a great thing going. Plus who wants to run where they’re not welcome.

I joined my club (Capital RC Model Boat Club) for the same reason the FEMBOT's came together. District 12 ran ZERO FE classes at their events last year. So $100 in club and IMPBA dues gives me the privilege to practice with my club and that’s about it. Now my club has been great and said they would add FE classes to their race if we had the participation. I know you guys are serious about your hobby and I would love to invite you all up here to race once a year. Hell, I'd buy the steaks and beer if you guys took the trouble to come up. And I’d travel down to Chesapeake for OD's district race. But why would anyone spend $50 in IMPBA or NAMBA dues if they are not welcome at their own local club. I wouldn’t.

Now, that I’m a card carrying member, I’m thinking about making some waves in District 12.

I’m usual down in Tidewater once or twice a year. I’m way up in Northern, Virginia, but my family has a weekend home in the Northern Neck (Reedville) so I’m in that area at least a couple times a month.

Nautiboyz, there's also talk of going to Lake Gaston to a place I have down there. Plenty of room for everyone to sleep as the cabin is a Lincoln log home with 5 bedroom, 3 & 1/2 bath. I have a pontoon boat down there that we can all pile onto with boats.

It's easy to find nice, flat water in the coves, etc. on that lake, or we can do offshore stuff on the main part that's nearly a mile wide.

Certainly let us know next time you are anticipating being in this area, we welcome all!

We interrupt this thread to bring you a special bulletin. Flash...

I don't mean to cut in, but District 12 will have no choice but to allow you to run IF you have at least 3 competitive boats in a class.
Bring 3 guys running the same class boat, If all 3 are a member, they HAVE to let you run. Problem is, there isn't 3 guys that want to pay to run electrics with them. let alone, run electrics with them for free considering the tone they have about electric boats.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread already in progress.

I will have to admit that ODMBA does discourage FE boats as I have been there several times and overheard the remarks that are made about FE. Now don't get me wrong they are nice guys with a lot of knowledge when it comes to gas/nitro and have been at it many years. They have spent a lot of time setting things up and cleaning up the lake. But it would always be an "US" and "THEM" thing.

                      Not my cup of tea.

I've had mixed experiences with them. Of course, the majority of them that do the weekend thing, are rather friendly. They don't much care for FE, but will allow you to run from time to time. There are several others though that I'd just assume accidentally hit them with my truck when I'm leaving.

To tell you the truth, that's pretty sad. I'm an easy going guy and am not easily angered by other actions or treatment of myself or others. However....yes, I did say I'd be tempted to hit them with the truck!!! LMAO!

Once again, on the other side of the spectrum, they have provided some good information and have been very friendly with me, taking the time to engage in conversation which they normally wouldn't take the time out of their day and for that, I'm grateful.

If anyone belongs to this club and reads this post, please feel free to tell me I'm wrong. I'll be the first one to admit that a lot of times, a few bad apples...well you know

I understand where you all are coming from and all I'm going to say about it is it's just a shame.

Diegoboy, I guess I wrongfully assumed D12 race classes were determined either by the host club or by the district at the beginning of the year. Even though I'd love to crash ODMBA's party it wouldnt change a thing for you guys. And it's so not the reason I joined a club.

Meniscus I'd like to meet up and run with you guys some time in '09. And if you guys ever decide to run a FEMBOT Cup, I'm in. I'll even bring the crab pot floats!

Thanks for the invite guys. No Micros yet. Just a Titan 33" mono and a 29" Mean Machine cat I just finished for my son. I'm planning on either a hydro or rigger build this fall. I've spent more time doing the builds than I have time on the water. Time to get some stick time this year and blow my next stimulus check on a bunch of Lipos.
