Paddles are a kick in the butt, and in the snow they are nuts because you loose sight of your truck because of all the blowing snow, its crazy
the 6XL motor is a little hot of a wind for a monster truck, I think a 7XL would be sweet..
I have a Medusa 3680 1600kv in it now, and I keep gearing up to get more speed but the temps really don't move much on that motor, and I think the 1518 with a 25t pinion would be a very nice setup

I meant that nitro setup modded. What sort of brushless setup would you compare the power to? (apples and oranges, I know) I haven't messed with nitro in a looonnnggg time.

        by bad...
Well I need to find a great modder to send this motor to..
When I get it back it should have amazing power, better throttle response, and better fuel economy
as for nitro mod vs brushless, hard to say, but if it had a 2spd I know this truck would hit 60mph and be much easier to drive to that speed than brushless
I got 43mph today with the stock motor with stock gearing
I hope to see 50mph with stock gearing after the mods and that's with a single speed setup
        I hope that helped

Well, c'mon, let's tell the whole story... Fonzy is the new Traxxas spartan team driver and he's going to jump the shark.

Obviously it's all in the marketing.

Well, its at 27 pages, 785 posts, and the boat has gone through a name change, about 4 different months worth of pushed back release dates, and a revised ESC.. I don't think it is gonna kill anyone that it got a little off topic. Hell for all we know everything internal in the boat could be different by the time it comes out!

Little off topic is fine, but apparently now it has gears and does 60 with a 2 speed transmission...or is that a truck,,,wait a minute, trucks don't float...do they...I'm confused

Come on you've never seen the Traxxas video where they drive one of their cars into a pool to prove how waterproof it is? Hey maybe they can drive the boat up onto land to prove how durable it is.

The new improved Traxxas site is up and running and there is some additional info in the Spartan. In the link you can download the parts list and a few exploded views of the hull and power module. http://www.traxxas.com/products/mode...rtan-downloads

The data sheet say the propeller is a 42mmx59mm. What does that equal up to in say an octura or grim metal prop?

                              59/42=~1.40, therefore I would say X442.

Of course metal props flex less, so you might want to try a X440 first.

another good try could be a Grim42x55
