    Yeah! Great catch!
I saw your wtb post over at the dock and I believe I saw that cat pics too - cant recall what thread it was.
If you can take close up pics of the damage, Im sure the guys here could help ya out.

BTW - you recommend using a butch block on cats?
It seems like I'll be needing your inputs when the R-42 hull arrives!

Cool, you got a r42! A butch block is great for cats. I was mainly thinking of you when talking about getting fiberglass repair help.... This thread and seeing the magic you do on fiberglass is what gave the the confidence to buy a damaged hull. Mardon has the glass skills and Shawn has the paint skills! Thanks

What is the extent of the damage? Any holes?
We did get to fix Stephen's boat - which is a tear/hole, but credit really goes to my fiberglass workers. I can always ask them for help if you need 'em.
$125 is definitely a steal! Heck, in our part of the world thats just the shipping cost! Lol!

Do send me the link of the thread of that hull in the Dock - I will check out how it was damaged and will discuss it with my workers to make a repair recipe that I can translate for your behalf.

Mardon, if you do a search on the Dock for "turtle strike", the second page has closeup pics on the damage to the hull. There is a small hole in the sponson and a rip in the glass. No other damage to the hull other than the sponson. That boat just got a new paintjob! Shipping will cost about $85 so I paid only $40 for the hull! I would send you a link but cannot do that with my iPod touch.

Shawn, I am thinking of putting a QuickDraw 35cc in this boat. The qd35 has over 8.5 horsepower!! I don't think I will ever get to a point were I can paint like you. I don't have the creative skill it take to paint.

Now thats why those pics look familiar! hahahahaha! Dont mention "turtles" in this thread - Stephen is now allergic to them! hahahaha!

$85 shipping?! How big is the hull? What shipping method? So, should I be thankful that Bruce over at Gizmo charged me only $95 to ship the R-42 hull from Florida to Manila?
              Who made that cat hull?
That seems like a big hull if you plan a QD35 on that.
If the damage is only below, would you still have the whole boat painted? But since you really got the boat cheap - I'd certainly understand changing colors to your preference ............ and no doubt Shawn can do wonders on the paint! Maybe airbrushed pics?
I'd still want to see Shawn do an "aliens" theme someday!

You tempted to bring it to West Coast Customs? hahahaha! Who knows, a segment of it could be televised! hehehe!

Hey! I know that boat from somewhere! I think it's originally from Doug of dougspaint right? Then bought by another boater from another thread. Great deal for $125 shipped! That's a real steal bro! If only you and Mac are neighbors, it would just take a few minutes to repair. My Gasser's gaping hole only took an hour I think?

I'm sure you can manage to repair it. we'll just chime in for suggestions. Congratulations on a great deal. Good thing the damage is at the bottom and not on the paint job!

I'll agree with everyone, that is a great paintjob (don't know if I could do it)and it's a good thing the damage is to the bottom.Front to boot, hard to get to but not so structural. 8.5 hp eh,mmm. That's FE power numbers, hehehe.Maybe I should hunt for one of these hulls for twin 1717's instead of MHZ or HPR.

Mac,Aliens?I'm going to have to find a new place with a dedicated area for painting if I am to expand services.I need to anyway and need to get closer to my pond.

All the damage to the hull is on the bottom of the sponson.I am going to leave the paintjob alone. Dougs custom did the paintjob. The boat is 49x17. $59 to ship a boat to malina is a great price! I'm not sure how he got it that cheap??? If only I could ship it that cheap, I could sell tag one!

I did ask Bruce how much to ship an AC R-42 (42"x16") from Florida to Manila, Philippines and he answered $95. I did ask him again what shipping method is that $95 and Bruce replied back that it was usps - post office.
You being in Cali should even find that shipping the same box dimension would be cheaper since Cali is closer to Manila than florida. Also, the biggest Filipino community in the US is in Cali - so there are actually small scale couriers that provides cheaper shipping than int'l courier companies. I will ask around to find contact details of these smaller courier companies to help both you & Tag to finally iron out that Cat that he is dying to get from you! hehehe

I also asked my worker earlier how he would fix your troubled hull. After I showed him the pics from the Dock, he suggested the ff:

                      Interior:
                      1. Sand the inside of the hull where the damage is located.
                      2. Lay-up fiberglass matte/cloth and brush with resin. Apply a 2nd layup for good measure. An inch bigger than the damage area would be sufficient.

                      Exterior:
                      3. Sand the outside to remove any high spots and remove any small breakage in the gelcoat.
                      4. Mix resin, toner (preferably a white colored toner) and Kalsomine powder till thick like putty - apply to holes and big cracks. Just fill those 3/4 of the way as when it hardens its hard to sand.
                      5. The last 1/4 of the way to the surface use bondo and sand to smooth. Just paint white when done.

hope that helps and feel free to ask questions if you need to :)

The trend is going bigger these days - so your next step maybe using a gas boat hull and using electrics to power it. Cost wise, it may not be practical, but if you already have the electrical components then only the hull would be the investment.

I was only looking at the hull/hatch,it was $180 and then the arch and windshield.Oh well,we have the mighty Mardon to do a nice offshore.
I was looking into AC but now I'm pretty sure my 1717's are going into a twin Cat.I imagine AC's are pretty heavy for a T600.

Actually guys, how heavy is that Lazer?

Jeesh, I gotta step up to your praises! hehehe

No idea on the Lazer's weight. Both stephen and I got pre-loved Lazers to test if we would like to run gas. I love it, so this time Im getting new! Im sure Andy can answer you with that. One thing thou - Andy's boats are bullet proof and I've read others as saying this is due to the thicker FG layups of Andy.....so I guess they're thicker and a bit heavier. He could possibly make it thinner for FE use.

As I mentioned previously, we have a fellow boater who will be using a Lazer hull and electric power - 56 motor, 240a esc and 4 x 5s batts for a 10s total.
