I set up the Zelos different, if the wind calms down i'll go out this Sunday. I haven't seen anyone set it up this way on here. Not going for a record, but shooting for 70+. Still using stock electronics.
Outward lift the bow ,not the transom ? The inward rotation lift the transom ! I think !
I believe someone said in past posts that Rafael designed it inward spinning because it handles better (keeps the transom in the water). Outward spinning lifts the transom, but also makes it want to "float". It got rid of the porpose effect on mine.
What ones were you thinking on running? page 49 post 1445
I don't really wanna run them because I've yet to actually get what I want from those x447s. Was just wondering for future reference how anyone did with them. Thanks man!
Hey Guys, Sorry for not having time to get on here lately.
Regarding my SAW boat in the video Keagan posted, that was the very first run with that Voracity 36 motors and Zelos 48 ESCs. It was on 8s, 2p. Boat ran very wet. I never tuned it, I just half assed guessed where to place everything and went for it; I built the boat the previous day. I haven't run it since that day, I am waiting of components to come in to try and get more speed. This was just a test to see how stable the hull is with more speed. I really feel the hull can handle 100, no problem. Lipos are not HV, they are 5700mAh 14.8v samples I get for free; true 35C rated packs with a 50C burst. When you have quality packs, you don't need "100C" packs. Each side has an extra water pick up. Electronics were at 110 after that video. I'm running ABC 1816/3 .50 bar that I've tweaked a little. I didn't run the 447 props but I believe with some hull tuning and these props, I can get closer to 90.
The goal for the NAMBA event in a few weeks is 100. The Q record is close to 130, which I know I wont get to unless I spend $1K on electronics, which I am not willing to do. I'm just doing it for fun, with samples that I get for free to prove the hull can be competitive
The boat is running wet because the batteries are too far forward; it has nothing to do with the rotation of the props. Back when I built my first Zelos 36 from a bare hull, I discovered that running them inward, like most 1:1 twin cats do, provided the best characteristics for all purpose running. I didn't like the way this boat handles running the outward. I see what you guys are saying here in theory, but it hasn't worked that way for me. Prop wise, the only way to get lift, either transom or bow, is with prop rake. Other than that, you either use your struts or batteries to adjust ride attitude. I'm not saying you may not experience different, but this is what I have found works on this boat.
