this mite not be what you want in terms of hull speed, when i got back in to fe acouple of years ago i had never used brushless or lipo,s
and boy did i blow some gear up,mainly from chasing gps speeds
part of the problem was taking hulls that ran well up to 45mph but i was pushing them past 60mph.
now i have acouple of hulls that are capable of 60mph but they run in the mid to high 40s, no there not real fast but i find it a lot more fun having boats that dont flip, will handle a decent amount of chop
and i am not replacing parts every second run
thats my take on hull speeds

      Nice topic !!!

Looking at it from the other side : what are we putting in our hulls ?
      More and more power.
A lot of our hulls were designed for Nimh cells & brushed motors, or we make
      FE out of gashulls.

Funny thing : using light cells (lipo), reinforcing the hull with light materials (carbonfibre cloth)
and finally we end up with adding weight to a hull to make it controlable.

Would a boat look different if it was designed for use with BL and lipo only ??

I own two mean machines among the fleet that Doug(son # 2) and I have - the 1st one I mounted two EP1's on and the other a 9xl Etti 150 etc...( Thanks guys) The most recent one was one of the ones Remy was selling out from the flood, this started life as a gas boat. There is a very real difference in the weight of these two MM's, the one I ordered from OSE is alot heavier and completely different material ... well I took the EP1's off this one and put the EP1's on the light one. Then proceeded to build out the heavier one with the 9 xl, etti 150 etc and am glad I did. It handles better into the wind, handles blowovers well....not that I ever do that you understand and runs in rough water a liitle better so I too am becoming a believer in heavier isn't always bad!
