    zippy lipos thread

    Hi Guys

Have noticed a few people mentioning that Zippy Lipos may not be up to the job, Just wondering if anyone has any Data on this ? like back to back tests with other cells ?

Graphs amps vs volts etc ?

Its easy to parrot what other people say and assume they are not up to the job, but has anyone done any actual testing?

About amps I don't know, but the quality is not good. I had one that got wet and the positive tab broke-erroded after a day and cannot solder it. In two others one cell just died and don't know how. I would suggest Rhino (so far so good) and then the famous ones (Flightpower, polyquest etc...).

if you got it wet its possible it shorted out and corroded that tab, I had the same happen. No lipos should get wet IMO.

I am more interested in AMP draw capabilities.

I have had good results to date, 53mph on 4500mah 25c zippys on 8xl powered cat (oval setup)
I won our recent club champs for P-Restricted (4s 2pole motor, max 6000mah) with Zippy Flightmax 30-40c 2650mah 4s2p to give me 5300mah. I was the only one in the class running Zippys, everyone else running Enerlands of some description.

So I know they work, just After some real DATA if possible

the rhino's have been super strong for me, also ive found the zippy cells are pretty safe- i had a puncture in the end of one of my flightmax 3s 4000's and nothing happened- i put some epoxy over the hole (and no chemical fire) then charged it up and it has been working fine since. one of my thunderpowers got punctured and what a fire that was and the only fire experience ive ever had with lipos in my 3 years experience with them

You need special aluminum flux paste to solder the aluminum tabs...

I am not talking about safety the C rating is my question...Zippy prove it under boat demands

AHA ! Exactly ? Someone must have some DATA.

One would assume so, But I have been stung in the past by assuming this.. IE Buying thunderpower and thunder power packs for my heli... assuming because they were expensive they must be good, they flew the same as my zippy packs after 2 years the thunder power and align packs dont even hold a charge, the zippy packs I can still fly.

I did hear a rumor that the some Zippys were enerland rejects.. but as I have seen no data one an only assume, and assumption is the mother of all " F#$Kups "

All my ten packs running fine, all closely balanced.
These Zippys seem underrated in mah too,a 5000 can give almost full capacity before obvious voltage drop.
I haven't done more than about 12 discharges with each set yet,so maybe time will tell if they are REAL good cells.
One pack was taken out by an Esc which basically was my fault, over propping a fast setup even more, tabs were burned,i can easily fix it.
Soldering is as good as many of my Enerland packs.
Its the price i like the most.
                          Brod..
