    I actually have:

    5- 5000mah, 30c 4s1p Flightmax Zippys
    5- 5000mah, 20c 4s1p Flightmax Zippys

I keep an excel spreadsheet documenting the cycles on them, and note any problems in the balance. So far, 8 of the packs only have 5 cycles, all balance fine, and 2 of the 30c packs have 26 cycles on them, and all still balance up just fine and will take 4.2v per cell on the charge. I am about to buy a bout 4- 5000, 25c, 6s1p packs for a new project. So far so happy, and I cannot beat the price!

      http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...t=zippy+rating
Nick, that is an interesting thread and I quote from it

And measuring true C rating is even more difficult. Just as above, you have to set what you accept as a suitable voltage drop. Example with a 5Ah battery:

If I accept 3.5v/cell as the minimum loaded voltage, I will increase the current load until it hits that level. I might get 100A as an example. I would rate this cell as 20C.

But, if I accept 3.0v/cell as the minimum loaded voltage, I will probably be able to increase the current to 130A before it hits that voltage. This would equate to 26C.

Which is right? They are both the same battery, but different ratings.

See? This is where battery manufacturers play games with us. Let's say we have Brand A and Brand B batteries. They might both be rated 5Ah @ 20C, but Brand A is $50 more. Let's say that during testing, Brand A maintains 3.5v/cell at that load, and Brand B maintains 3.0v/cell at that same load. Since Brand A is pricier, people will buy Brand B because it seems cheaper for an equal quality cell, when it clearly isn't.

The only way to get a true measure would be to consistently test each battery using the same procedures, which is lacking in the industry. Standardized testing has been talked about a number of times, but goes nowhere because it is simply too expensive to get the equipment to do proper testing.

Sorry about the long post, but I hope I made sense"

Also from other members replies the Zippy seems like the real deal. I just wish that most battery assemblers would show proof of their claims. Then we could buy on an informed basis. Also members info on all battery assemblers would be appreciated. I have run xyz battery for x runs and here is my opinion. Please note there are only 2 LIPO manufacturers, as far as I know

Would be nice if they all used the same taps as well!

Yes all the same taps would be nice!!!

It seems the results so far sound pretty positive. I have been stung over the years buy just buying an item, and assuming its top of the range because its near the top of the price range.

Take a speedmaster rudder I just bought for my whiplash 20, not the cheapest rudder in the shop, but in the past the gear has always been nice, I get it home and the slot in the pivot bracket is not machined out enough for the transom bracket, so i have to spend 5 mins filing it... the price doesn't guarantee quality in all cases IMO

1c is 1 amp charge per 1 amp capacity (or 1000mah) so charge at 5 amps for a 5000 pack

Yikes, that seems hot or should I stay under 5 amps or do 5 and everything will be fine?

i always charge mine at 1c. you will probably find depending on how low the battry is that it will only take about 3.5- 3.7 amps any way

Yes this a shortened version of the whole quote but I will use the context.

I have just got my first Rhino pack from HK, I have a few Zippy packs from there too.

The decal on the pack clearly states "zippy battery" in small font.

Funny thing is that the cells are the exact same size as the Polyquest ones that I have been sent by a very generous donor. Same cell count and mAh

What you think of this is up to you, but I now can see a common factor.

                            Douggie may have a point.

FWIW I love the Zippy packs and my boats haul on them.

"C" rate charging depends on the quality and stability of the cells. I charge all of my Flightpower and PolyRC batteries at 2C with no problem. The Flightmax batteries may be less stable or the manufacturer is just covering their ass.

Well Douggie, I hope I can tell you that they do deliver what's written on the label, because
                                I just bought 8x 5s Zippy 5000 30C. They will work in my CT03 as 10S2P packs.
