Matt make sure the ESC is HIGH VOLTAGE as per my suggested setup. You will blow most LV ESC with a 6S setup, regardless of the maufacturers specs.

Not sure how much this will help you, but I just done a conversion of Proboats 31" thundercat. I am running a feiago 9t 580L, 2-3 cell 4000mah lipos, 150 etti w/o bec, with a octura x648 prop. Im running right at 40mph right now, but im still working the bugs out. I just went run it today and noticed that my wire harness was getting SUPER HOT!! So I just ordered some 6mm bullet connectors for everything and some 10ga wire to make my harness. Im not sure (and if someone can answer this) but I think that after I change my connections, I might get more speed because I dont think that the wiring I have right now can carry the amperage I am drawing. I was hoping to get close to 50mph, But its not as easy as it seems. I thought with all the power I have, It would have been no problem, but Im new to this and Im learning a lot everyday thanks to all the guys here. Also, I took a watercooling jacket from an old esc I had and placed in on top of the capacitors on the etti. I believe that you can not ever have to much cooling.

              jjaj,
changing connector and wire size for something bigger change the circuitery resistance to a lower value, this simply gives more volt to the motor at the end!

Im in the uk so could be tricky getting the motors, would you say their better than feigao?

                  Thanks

Hi Matt,no problem ordering the medusa motors from the US,they do take about 5 weeks though if out of stock.Well worth the wait though, much better quality than Fiegao.
Lots of guys running the Turnigy(Hobbywing) i linked on 6S lipo, without problems.
Douggie is right though about certain ESCs not liking the maximum cell count at the rated ampage.

Those 220A hV escs's look a good bargain,if you could source one i would then go the single motor,Neu 1527 1.5Y on 10S lipo plus that HV esc.
Or you could go same controller plus a Scorpion 4035/800 motor on 10S.

                  Heres a good read for you;

I havnt run the HV esc so only going off what i have read.
I really only try to recomend products i've tried and tested myself..
                  Brod..

ps where are you in the UK?

So what your saying is Im not getting the full potential out of my motor? I am using deans connectors and believe they are only good for around 90 amps or so. So when I change all this out, do you think I should see a difference in performance?

Deans are rated for 60Amp, on my 29" mono, the 540 8XL pulls around 70 constant (almost 100 burst) and the Deans are more than warm, almost hot, they dissipate heat so the internal resistance has to be considered seriously! resistance means power loss!

Looks good, my only concern is water cooling the monster

Also now created a shortlist of possible motors, drum role please.

Feigao 580 not sure what turn.

Scorpion 4020 / 3026 - seems some people have opted for the 4035 but want a boat not a plane

So what the general consensus on these? Will be running two of them.
