Gerwin advises me that the designer Ralf Schnipkoweit is a clever bugger indeed. (my words, not his)I want to discuss fast hull forms.
Hydros. We have Shovel, pickle, ventilated or multi-wing then the outrigger. The lines get a little blurred at times but the fundamental difference is the aerodynamic lift component. Shovel has lots, rigger has little to none. There now we have done with hydros, for now.
Cats. Long+narrow+deep for OS running through to short wide and shallow for OPC tunnels. Stepped or not they have many things in common.
Now lets take a look a this offering from Heiko Danz. I like the out of the box thinking and will do something similar myself soon. He has taken a cat and a pickle hydro and washed them together. Very clever in my mind
I am keen to play with this idea and have come up with a few constants.
Front sponsons, riggers and hydros have them so will this new hull
Rear suspended by the prop(s) . See above.
Now it all goes west fast. I will do a twin drive taking Heiko’s idea of a Cat/hydro and the knowledge that I have gained for doing a Twin-cat and put the whole lot together in a small package. 20-22”
I will soon get some sketches together and look at layouts and the pitfalls that may occur.
This will certainly be biggest challenge since my Canard design/build.
Given that the Canard is running high 30’s low 40’s on 2S, 540-8S then I am happy and confident that I can do a mixed-up hydro on twins !!
NOTE.
This WILL NOT be a rules debate on what can and can not be run in sanctioned events. I do not give a primates testical what is legal/allowed/accepted etc.
This is R&D time !!
