    Twin wing Hydros

Yes we know they are a little different and I am too.

What is the go with a twin wing hydro
Why is the tunnel / tub ventilation there ?
Is this a common design for the full size boats. I do not really follow US boat racing.
What are the advantages over a more "conventional" design like a Phil Thomas SS1 or say a Whiplash.

I may do a build over the southern winter that will be a semi-scale hydro and am looking for a suitable hull to work from.

I do like the twin wing hulls and have seen a few different approaches to the concept.

When I do one be assured that the big turbine inlet/outlet will not be present on parade.

Let's see what the owners of a TW hydro can tell us.

    Thanks.
    See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

They aren't "common" but they aren't "rare" either.

The vents allow the lifting hull to be more stable. Even in aircraft, a flying wing is far less stable than a conventional or canard design. The ability to accurately predict and position the aerodynamic center (AC - the point where all lift can be considered to be acting, much like a CG but in the opposite direction) allows for a more stable design. The front and rear wings are usually at different angles of attack to cause the front wing to enter stall first (automatic recovery).

There are problems with them, usually because the airfoils and vent are not designed according to aero engineering but TLAR or TLK "engineering."

When I designed the UL-1 10 years ago I set up the center section to move the AC as far back as I could. This allowed the rearward CG (about 2" back) for most applications, yet enough room to move forward to about 1" for higher power setups. This, along with the thrust line coming in above the CG (top to bottom), helped them stay on the water very well.

While you are talking about it, this is one you probably haven't seen:

Doesn't look like the best design, but I figured I'd share the picture.

Sorry man! And yes I said it didn't look like the best design, but I admit, I don't know!

Say, is your workshop in the Netherlands as well Diego? Or was it Egypt? I can't remember now. LMAO I know you setup that Jet boat to run it in the Nile........or maybe that was denial.

Something I would like to know is why they are considered illegal, as far as Namba goes anyways? Are they too much like a rigger?

That boat looks like someones garage project but may run very well depending on the application.

True, there are plenty of designs that don't look like anything or don't look correct, but they run like nobody's business on the water!

Why settle for two wings when you can have three !

This is my H & M Spider and it goes really well on Feigao 8XL on 4S.

And the reverse is also true. Some designs that look like they'd rip up the water are real dogs!
