    Yup

Yes, good stuff....Europe is years beyond what we have here. They would own all the records if they competed here. They still have common sense classes and vendors do not control everything like Aqua Craft is doing. Ever see Joerg act like some of these people in NAMBA?

Just as N-1 allowed lipo, maybe 4-cell should include 1s as well as 3s for "o"
In NAMBA since theyre the only ones who still have it..

IMPBA allowed BL in 4-cell which was fun..
I'll never agree with getting rid of the smaller boats, I truly can't see a 10-year old kid starting out with a 50mph ss hydro

Europe is doing great with boats 25 inches and smaller. The attendance and number of FE races held there more than quadruples ours.
I've got 24 inch hulls that run fantastic choppy or not..

I admit this is a mellow speed, but nontheless fun and raceworthy

I'm with Steve on starting another sanction, this is kind of insane.
Cars embrace every form of racing from micros to 1/5th scale, but we've gotta' be power hungry..

I think monster power is for those who can't get enough out of moderate power.
My opinion is "why run a big 'ol 33 inch P-mono at 65 when you can make a 13 inch hydro do it for less money and support equipment?

Mike Martin hit 78 with a 25inch hull which was an amazing feat in my eyes. It completely discredited the whole "length Limits" deal and the theory that you MUST use a bigger hull to go faster.

Thread isn't ruined... Because I'm not going to participate in your slander and name-calling...

No one said that other boats weren't "work" too... But if you put them up against the alternatives on a work/fun or work/speed ratio... the more popular stuff wins...

And that IS the point... I've never said ONCE in this thread that Bill or you had bad ideas... I'm still actively working on my N1 stuff for goodness sake... What I DID say is that the rules are, and have been in place, and that it's NOT the organization or quite frankly the "fat-heads" racing in it, that are keeping these smaller cell-count classes from being raced... At least not in NAMBA. The rules are there for people to utilize, and they haven't. That's just the facts. You'll have to deal with that however you choose...

As for me having and "ego"... well... I'm happy for the little bit I've accomplished, and I'm not going to appolgize for using the experience I have to help people get some perspective on these topics... There IS another side of the story besides yours, Mr. Hill...

Bill... contact me offline about the SAW in October. I was talking to my wife about coming down and I think it may be a go... Let's figure out what classes we can run and get a battle going! Would be fun, and I can't really afford to put anything together for the larger classes anyhow! Maybe N1-Mono, N1-Hydro, and perhaps the M2 stuff as well... I think I have hulls that would work for all of those, and I know I have at least 3 of the RC-Hydros 4-cell ESCs for them...

              Bill,

In case you decide you want to propose an update to M-2... This might help you get started:

PROPOSAL for Update to M-2 Power Specifications

In Section 28.D.1.a), Change M-2 power specifications to allow any chemistry (Lithium, etc) as follows:

              Current Rule:

              D. CLASS SPECIFICATIONS

              1. POWER SPECIFICATIONS

              a) The following motor and cell configurations will be considered official for
              electric racing in NAMBA:

M-2 A single .05 motor with brushes, any endbell, ferrite magnets.
Power Limits: 1-4 Ni-chemistry cells are permitted.

              Proposed Rule:

              D. CLASS SPECIFICATIONS

              1. POWER SPECIFICATIONS

              a) The following motor and cell configurations will be considered official for
              electric racing in NAMBA:

M-2 A single .05 motor with brushes, any endbell, ferrite magnets.
Power Limits: Up to 4.8 Volts nominal, any chemistry. Maximum of 2 packs in parallel.

You could make a few adjustments and do the same for O... though that one might get in the way of those who already think NAMBA has WAY too many classes.

Bill... One more thing that just occured to me...

The emphasis seems to fall a lot on trying to attract the car guys... but in my limited experience, most of the cross-overs that I've encountered have actually been airplane guys... Most of the airplane and heli stuff seems to be geared toward 3S cells... Doesn't solve the issue of getting more people racing smaller boats... but a revised O-class to allow 3S would provide a direct path for the Airplane guys to bring their equipment in...

Yeah, it feels good sir. I was literally depressed until I got her back in my arms
When she sunk, suddenly Air Supply's greatest hits started playing in my head as I stood at the bank staring sadly at the crash site "Allllll IIIIII NEEEEED is a little more time.."

Then the song: Just when I thought I was over youuuu.. And just when I thought I could stand on my own oh baby those memories come crashing through.. and i just can't... Go On With-out.. You."

Yeah, I dried her off, and we sat in front of the tv and enjoyed champaigne together last night.

Excellent that you got it back, Bill... I know how much work you put into these things when you build them. The components can be replaced without much issue... but the built up hull and setup time, etc... that's a lot more work to have to reproduce... especially after you've gotten it just right! Bully for you!!

With some of these smaller boats... you simply can't get enough floatation in them to hold up the weight... I've seen a couple of boats go down that had what we thought was plenty of floatation, and they sunk anyhow. Just not enough volume inside...

Bill... one suggestion that I've seen work... and it has to do with the hatches, especially on ABS boat or thin layups... Make sure the deck area around the hatch is rigid. I run carbon fiber flatstock across the deck in these areas to keep it from flexing down. We round on the 33" Deltaforce hulls that, when they'd flip, the pressure of the water hitting the deck would flex it down, popping the hatch loose. If you reinforce this area to keep it from flexing, then it won't compress when the boat flips and should keep the hatch in place better... At least that works for us.

Get her dried up and back in the water...
