the problem with these ARTR is that you never know what you're gonna get, some guys have had good result with this 25" boat some did not last more than 30 second!... just woshhhhh and smoke!...
and as I mentionned the rest of the hardware doesn't seem to be top quality stuff.
to me buying the ARTR or building it myself makes no difference, the most difficult will be to fine tune it at the end!!!
if you're afraid of all this then buy a second hand boat that fit in your budget and that has proven its performances!

if your going to just buy the hull and add your own hardware there is plenty of info here on the forums, but if your unsure of anything when you get the parts start a build thread with it and people will give you step by step directions.
i know you are tossing up between the cat and the mono i have both, if it was me i would go for the mono but a 29" version like ed66677s
great handling and somthing you could up grade later you could use the esc and batteries you have run between a 8-9xl

yeah the 29" size (mono or cat) is not too small so that it's easy to fit everything in and not too big so that the budget remains pretty low, mine is not a reference as I did the hardware myself but still I'm happy with the result/speed, latest video here, for few more $ you can get here at OSE the 29" DeltaForce (not a copy) witch must be even better, copies are made of vinylester or polyester/fiberglass, original are made of epoxy/fiberglass witch is stronger, Steven, here at OSE, has the appropriate hardware, motor (Feigao 8XL) and ESC (100A xpower), K42 carbon prop... and a good service... priceless!

before I spend more bucks in expensive props, got to invest in better batt, those are cheap chinese I got on e bay , and yes I may add tabs soon!
X642 that's more pitch, I might try an S42 carbon that has same dia. and pitch! watch out amp draw then!

yes but that the peak and as the pond is small ar straight run are short ET logger doesn't show accurate values, I believe the average is around 80

but the chinese knock-offs ARE epoxy FRP.

mine is not for sure, smells almost as strong as polyester, I guess it's vinyl ester!!!

might be time for Steven to make some ReadyToBuild combo with proven hull/motor/ESC/hardware for newbies!

this mono is 29" long and I'm afraid the UL1 motor will not have enough torque, in the UL-1 page it seems 40mm props are the one, also the motor is a 36-56, on my 29" I have a Feigao 8XL, same KV as the UL-1 motor but 36-74 size and I'm spinning a 42mm prop.
also the UL-1 is an Hydro so much less drag than a mono, IMO the UL-1 motor would fit better in the 25" mono see here
