how does that motor work? Is the hardware good? And have you had any problems with the motor mount and servo mount breaking loose? I have heard that the R2 version had the wooden stringers that broke away.

Mine is a 380 L size motor it runs good and temps are around 120 degrees. (www.fsd-motor.com) I reinforced the stringers on the motor mount with little stripes of cloth and resin. I thought the hardware was pretty good. You got to think about it's a $260.00 boat with shipping. Mine on 3S will out run a SV27 on 4S. I'm still trying to get it set up right. I ran it today the first time after I painted it and put the esc in it also. It's got a little chime walk right now. I'm sorry I don't have a GPS so as far as speed I have no idea. I'd say mid to upper 30's right now.Comment

Yeah same motor. I wanted to do the 540 thing but I was going to order a DF hull, water cooled 540 mount, and transfer everything over but they are not instock. Alot of things are not instock at offshore right now (fiegao 380 L motors also). I thought with summer here they would be in full swing.Comment

MM.
I don't know if that mount is the same width to fit in between the rails. That's something you will have to measure when you get the boat.
I don't use a water cooled mount in mine & if you have a good water jacket on your motor you won't really need it. That all depends on how much you load up the motor with your prop choice of course.
I don't know where the waterways run in the mount that comes with your boat. but what I would try first, if it were mine, is drilling two new mounting holes for the 540 motor. It's only 1/8" difference & I'd bet London to a brick that you won't hit a waterway.
If you do? Well you were thinking of buying a new mount anyway.
Just a thought.

Sorry bustitup, but that's 1/8" each side. The 380 motors are 3/4" apart & the 540 motors are 1" apart.
Just had a thought, if it looks like the holes will be too close to the existing ones you may need to rotate the motor 20 degerrs or so to put a bit more space between them. Might be easier to drill that way without the drill running into the existing holes.
Cheers.

If it were mine I would either drill new holes 90 deg out or file the existing holes to slots. I have a couple of mounts like that.
Centering the motor in slotted holes can be done a few ways. Let me know if you want to take either approach and have any more questions.
PM is good.See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with woodComment

I must say that "Bulletproof" was one of a very few rcbt1111 builds
that inspired me to pursue my project – i.e. one that was "well done".
And thanks, Paul, for the time & effort to post the flood-chamber build.

anxious to hear how it works out for you "on the pond".Comment
