    Renegade prop selection

I am playing with a renegade rigger with a 2600kv mile high outrunner, and was wondering what some of u guys have tried for props? I have tried a minicat racing prop which it didn't like at all, and also a 531 and 534, which it came with, but the best prop so far is a 632, which is bone stock, and was thinking about modding it? maybe detongue it, or cupping it or trimming the diameter.. was also thinking of trying a 1732..... what works best for u? I would be very interested to hear some ideas. thanks, Kerry

I had best results with the one they advised ( plastic) . If you are not happy with the speed, I wld suggest adjusting the strut because the one they recommend pushes that hull about as far as it can go..< but I am a hacker, so experiment.
Boats don't win races, drivers do.

Steve Elias Suggested the X632. That's what I ran until I had a V935/3 cut down to 32mm. (V932/3) It screams on that prop!

thanks for the replies!!! should I detongue the props? or just sharpen them up? and what should I use to lube the flexshaft? I am using red hightemp grease now, and it seems a little heavy... thought about using some sort of oil.....

I took about maybe 1/8th inch off the tongue of my 632, and all I can say is WOW!! this little boat really responds to small changes.. I will have to try a v935 for sure... OSE is currently out of stock on them... thanks, Kerry

Kerry, note that Diego is running a 935/3 > three blade cut down to 32. I didn't want to insult, but just make sure you realized that it was a 3-blader

yes, I saw that.... I never had a lot of luck with 3 blades on my gasser 42"cat, they would run well on top, but cavitate bad coming out.... but this thing is completely different... deigo sounds like he has had his for quite a while, so I really appreciate the input.. I am hoping they get some instock soon... Kerry

My renegade is the actual prototype built by Steve Elias. It's the very boat in the video, and the one pictured on the OSE video page. I've had her about 2 years now.

Ok, I got a 935/3 cut down to 32mm, and took it out.. It seemed squirrly and tried to crab sideways alot... I am thinking my rudder is not holding the prop torque.. the boat was fast.. I was wondering who did your prop work? maybe I need to send this prop out for work. thanks

I did the prop but I am not so sure that the prop is the problem on your setup.

I know the 632 runs and handles well... The 935 cavitates quite a bit more coming out, and then starts propwalking... I may need to cut the diameter down on it more, and or possibly roll the leading edges some. I'm not sure though.. I may need to change the setup for the prop. so I guess a good question would be:
should I change the strut height or angle when going from a 2 to a 3 blade?

I think Diego can give you the most valuable input regarding your question. We'll have to get him to measure.

Posting pictures of your current setup may also shed some light on what may be happening.

sorry for the delay, here are some pics, I squared off the bottom of the strut, seems to help with the 2 blades, maybe not with the 3 blade.
