I do have both hatches. It is a 2 hatch setup, kind of weird but together looks very realistic.

Budget, well with the recommendations here and the other site I will be needing a neu 1521 or 1527.
A CC hydro esc 250 amp I believe
Batteries well have been given 2 options so far but don't know which one will get me to 40-45mph which is all I am looking for, so the jury is still out there. Input on options with battery setup is needed.

Hardware is not an issue other than a motor mount. Everything outside the boat I already have. I understand the hardware part of this boat pretty well having owned one with a 90 Picco in the late 1980's. Probably speedmaster as of now.

Last try here. If you insist on the 1527 motor you will need to keep it light as you can. I fried TWO of them in a 44 inch cat (AM Avenger) that was 17 to 18 pounds on 10S2P.

I would very strongly recommend the 2215 for a more reliable set up. Use the 1.5Y (1020 Kv) on 8S and the right prop and you should be able to achieve the speeds you want with decent run times and very little stress on the motor.

I'd run a 8S2P set up using four 4S packs with two in series (8S) and then parallel those two sets (2P). 25C 4,500 to 5,000 mAh packs will work great. You could go with 6,000 mAh but the added wight may become an issue. For instance my 5S 6,000 mAh packs weigh the same as my 6S 5,000 mAh packs.

The CC 240HV is one option, but I would use the Schulze 40.160 if it were me.

Whatever you decide make sure to get video of the first run. The crowds love video!!

Bill he could easily get away with a 2215/2y and reach 45mph without even breaking a sweat with a 8C setup for even better run time , I can get 45mph with my 25 pound stealth on 6C just screwing around

You strike me as a man bitter towards the 1527's , mind you not that I blame you . Two for two would leave me a little pissed and reluctant to ever try that combo again...............

Nice boat Curt and as mentioned already we all love video's

Peter - I agree, the 2215 is the better choice, whether 2Y or 1.5Y is a matter of degree. I ran my 1527/1.5Y (825 Kv) on 8S and it ran fine. I like the slightly higher Kv to give him a little more flexibility with props.

I am merely pointing out my personal experience with the 1527 in large heavy hulls. Not sure how that comes across as bitter. If others have run similar size hulls and had good results then more power to them. I did not. Just another data point in the wind.

I will also wait to see what Steve has in the outrunner motor he talked about. Steve seems to feel positive about that motor.

Too much boat, not enough motor.

Which is why I keep saying if he can keep his boat really light, like 12 pounds or less, the 1527 might be fine. But why operate at the edge?? Use a 2215 and give yourself some room.

As far as the outrunner goes, uncharted territory for the most part. Not sure it is the best place for a new FE boater to play, but if that is what he wants, then all we can do is plead for him to take pictures and video.

Bill and Peter, both of your thoughts are correct. Curt, please listen to these seasoned players and many others in the FE hobby and it may be an economic correct decision if you bought a used SV 27 to play with and understand FE boating. Bill-socal and others have experience in running nitro, gas and FE
Plus for your painting questions. How are you going to fill the epoxy pin holes pior to painting?

I am in no hurry to get this started. I am also into hpi bajas, and now electric emaxxs too as well as my gas boats. Will take my time finding the correct equipment. Hast makes waste. I have experience filling the pin holes. Simply use bondo cut a little with denatured alcohol. Rub it onto the hull, let dry and sand it off. Sands easy and fills very well.
