I received mine today. It did not come with protectors for the shaft, but I installed some of the "Rat Rubbers" I use on my 4 mm battery bullet connectors. They are a bit too big for the 1/8" shaft, so I will find some others somewhere.
The balancer easily breaks down into small pieces without any additional tools (allen wrenches), so it will fit in most tool boxes. Since I have other balancers as well, this one may reside in my "field" toolbox.
All in all, it is a quality unit and I highly recommend it as your first (or second) balancer.
My Kintech 3/16" balance shaft measures a snug .187"...same as the excellant Jeff Wohlt wire drive propeller shafts. This snug fit inside propeller allows for a more centered prop when balancing and running. Most propeller shafts measure a looser .185"-.186" such as my Aquacraft and Hughey. The tighter/oversize fit of the Jeff Wohlt wire drive shafts have tighter/better fit inside strut bearing also.
Darin, Tony, Thanks for the praise.
Here is the scoop on the balancers. I didn't make these to make money, Im loosing my a__ at this price. I made these because all the others are inferior. Since I was making one for myself, I made a batch for anyone that wanted one.
Thanks Guys
I'm bringing this post back up because Jan has thrown his support to the Az WW race in March. Thanks, Jan! That's very generous considering you're commitment to giving FE a great piece of equipment without profit in mind.
For those attending the race, we'll have these items on display before they go in the raffle.
I have one and the quality is outstanding and that led me to buy his water cooling jacket for my UL-1.
PS. Steven did not have his design available at the time I ordered and with the very generous offer to those that purchased A UL-1 from OSE

I prepped a couple of new props over the last week, and really put the Kintec balancer to the test... One prop started life as an M547 and the other as an X450/3...
The balancer works AMAZINGLY well. Simple, clean, VERY accurate... almost TOO free spinning... You get a prop spinning and the darn thing just keeps spinning and spinning and spinning... Repeats every time as well...
Great job, Jan... and thanks for putting this out at a decent price... Well worth every penny!

I also used my New Kintec Balancer just the other day and Darin is right...the thing is TOO good! Rebalanced a P 220 and found that it needed more balancing after I thought it was done on my old Octura!! Also balanced a new Octura X430 and a X440...Great balancer!!! Next will be my M645. If you are interested in buying one of these, do yourself a favor and also buy the 1/8" shaft for it. I'm glad I did!
