I think the first question is who is going to run the boat ??
Is it an R/C person that understands what is going on when the battery is just about empty and get back to shore ??
Self righting or not will not help a dead boat in the middle of the pond

Also if they are bothering the birds and chasing them maybe it should have reverse as it is very easy to get too close to shore or weeds and get stuck if you can not back up

These 2 things could make it very frustrating for the parks department

The parks dept will run one during the week. I told them they should get the recoil 26 since it came with everything in one box. Also the self righting factor. I doubt they have experience with rc boats. The person I talked to said they personally did not. The lake is one people walk around the entire thing. It's literally surrounded by a drive. So if they bank it they can easily go get it.

I told them dont hesitate to contact me with any questions. Also that I'd be happy to show them some stuff about boating & mateience.

Me and a couple of other guys will be going on weekends to rc boat & fly the drones.

I wanted some one page flyers or little catalogs to give spectators that will show up. That would have info on where to go buy these things if they wanted to pick the hobby up. But so far none of the paces I asked for that kind of info will email me back. I already spent money ($1000+) on buying 2 boats (the cat & rescue boat) & lipos for myself just to get back into this part of my rc hobby asap to help out & because I enjoy it. But that money was supposed to be for my next 3d plane build I'm doing. That will have to be put on hold now. But I'm not spending more to make up my own info to tell people where to go buy stuff from someone else at my expense. So since I probably won't have anything tangible to give people about promoting the hobby. Less may take the time to buy something. Maybe that was just wishful thinking on my part. But I'd be happy to see more people around my hometown get into this hobby. Especially all the people that live around the lake.

I'm going to say good luck. It can be really frustrating to get a cohesive group together to run and race model boats. Might I suggest that you start a club if there are two or three of you and work on growing it. It will mean that you will have to put in a fair bit of time and effort to make it work for sure, but a club provides a platform to draw interested people in. I think the key is to keep things simple, fun and fair, not as easy a task as I am sure many here can attest to.
As far as information for those that might be interested, all you can do is make good suggestions and point them in the right direction. A list of suitable boats and suppliers is easy enough to make up and have copies or email to those who ask. At the end of the day you cannot expect that Joe Bloggs is going to make any effort, if you want something to happen you will have to do the legwork and hopefully you will find a few others that share the passion. Otherwise it is just 'wishful thinking'.
Oh and don't think that many will care for your efforts, I'm not saying this to try and put you off, rather go for it, I personally have learned that there is little reward in trying to make something of it for the benefit of others. You have to do it because you just want to and take enjoyment in having fun running and racing model power boats.
After two years as NZMPBA President I have resigned due to the way some (committee) people act and behave which was causing me grief and taking away my enjoyment of the hobby, sad but...

Thank you to everyone for the advise and input on this topic. You have all been very helpful. Here are a few pics of the lake last year. Its nice, just not much parking.

I'm surprised. Ordered the boat from here in the usa. The lipos from Hong Kong. All the same day & time wed night. The boat hasn't even moved from the place I bought it. The lipos are already in nashville tn. I remember hating to order stuff from over seas because it takes so long. But now they are faster. Smh

I'm gonna blame timezones and new product demand? Hate it when that happens. Did your park end up getting the recoil or did you just suggest it?

I don't know if they ordered it yet or not. It was just yesterday that I told them what one to get. I'll be contacting them back this coming week.
