I'll second the recoil 26 rtr from proboat, comes with everything, batteries and all for the first timer. Self righting, spare batteries are inexpensive since it's only one 3s pack, and it's easily accessible at local hobby shops. My second suggestion would be to look into a Cajon commander, this is an airboat by aquacraft. It would work well for sweeping the shoreline, especially if there is grass. The down fall would be that it's not self righting, air prop could be considered more dangerous to some people, and it has a slightly higher overall price point compared the recoil 26.

For yourself, the Zelos does not dissapoint. Stock it will run 4 min flat out with a 6s2p configuration and no heat issues. Because of the flat pads it does drift a bit around the corners more then a boat with ride pads that have some deadrise/dihedral angle so if that bothers you its something to consider. That is not to say it doesn't turn though, I was entering corners at 50+ mph with no issues. As mentioned the layup is SOLID. The only bad part is its so much fun to drive you may find yourself ignoring priorities just to go to the lake and run it.

I haven't noticed mine drifting any and on 4s it turns very well. On 6s it still turns great although I haven't pushed it to the limit yet at 70mph wot turning. But I agree, there will be not disappointments with it.

On the zelos 36. What size are the drives? What props are best for it?

What about that surf boat that was posted recently. It has quite a large above water visibility and wouldn't get damaged if it 'accidently' hit the odd goose.

I love the design, but it's over $1,300

The park district could buy a fleet of cheaper boats to keep the geese in line and go racing.

Are they going to race it or chase off the geese? The parks dept will have budgets for these things, just give them the options without twisting it to our bent. They will spend the money on something that works well not toys to play with, that's how beauracracies work.

Not sure what you mean by what size are the drives. Has a 3/16 flex if that's what your asking.

It's not a cheaply made boat with cheesy flex shafts like you see most rtr

The x642 stainless props actually work quite well if you s/b them. I bet they would be even better detounged. I'll be testing different props this week.

                Check the rudder out

Good point, I'm thinking with my typical budgets, they very well may have the recources to get a more expensive "tool" to chase the geese away.

The parks dept just wants one to keep for themselves to run during the week days. It's just to make a disturbance & maybe chase a few fowl. I guess that depends on whos driving. They don't have a large pockets to spend thousands of dollars on this. Heck the place charing to round up the geese and kill them is only charging like 1200 bucks I think. That's happening later this year. So if buying an rc boat exceeded that I'm guessing this endeavour would flop.

They contacted me because they knew I'm into rc boats. Then asked if I'd help with trying to scare them off by creating activity on the water.
They said if enough people got interested and it was to gain momentum. That they would be all for setting up & trying to hold races there for everyone. If races were to develop that would be on racers to buy boats not the parks as I'm sure you know.
