push button hatch locks - sealing

Installing some push button hatch locks in my Pursuit and noticed that there is no seal, so if boat flips, water will seep though slowly. Do you who use these use some grease in them or any other "tricks?" thank you.

Nothing I ever worried about. Unless air can easily escape through the bottom(ie: stuffing tube, rudder pushrod boot). When it is upside down it should be an airlock.

Last hatch locks I used, I figured a way to put o rings in them. Just in case.

I use little balloons sold at Lee Valley used for covering caulking gun tips. There are also rubber caps on ebay yo can buy if it has an inner diameter a little smaller than the remainder threads below.

            Long live the tape men.
I enjoy the ritual actually, may sound sick to some, but it's the truth.

On my 40" mono I used a pair of front tabs made of aluminum and rear hatch locks as well as 4 pieces of tape. If the batteries ever came loose (6S2P) tape would have not helped much. Some things need more than tape but, most don't.

Hehehe, I was actually suggesting placing a piece of tape over each hatch lock to "waterproof" them
But while you got the tape out, might as well finish the job!

It happens when you are running with others.

This is what I though after I posted... why not caps threading on the bottom. Rubber or silicone; easy enough. thank you. *Just ran 3 sets of packs and headed back after charging at home, today being "power" day at our model boat pond. I like having the hatch locks. I have seen and heard, "but I had it taped" a few times... not enough to keep the hatch on sometimes, especially when it's cold out and the tape isn't tacking up well.

I was half kidding: to successfully rely on tape, one MUST install hatch retaining pins or tabs under the front lid.
I do use hatch locks but I have a sub hatch which I still TAPE!

In case anyone needs info on these, sealing with a cap is a great idea, although air-lock is there is the tape is COMPLETELY sealed. In any case, tape is NOT ENOUGH! use hatch-locks or eventually lose your lid and $$.
