KXF is a stand up guy and takes his work seriously and that's respectable. He don't come on here trying to be the best builder only try's to share and help others. I think he has shown his capabilities here and pays attention to what he does and can easily build a fun boat that hits 80 mph. I didn't read everything here so my comments are limited to what I know about kfxguy . He is good people !

I would have sent Tom elsewhere if I knew somebody that I trusted. I didn't know Tom. He was sent to me. I suspect it was because I knew a lot of people. I also knew his composite guy really well. This was before anybody was building big cats. Pachmeyer would have been a possibility in hind sight.
Keith, I only meant that your building progression went the same as most of us. Trial, error, change, test, learn, do it smarter next time. Every single build is an opportunity to learn to do it better. Some of them are just a tick outside the norm. You have to tap your knowledge base to make sound decisions but you're still making educated guesses. You won't know with absolute certainty on one of those until you run it.Noisy personComment

^Well said.
Over time you build a knowledge base, imo one of the best parts of building is getting stuck in a rut for an hour or a day trying to figure something out, coming up with a solution and knowing you'll never have to worry about that part/building segment ever again.
A few weeks back I used cf tape on a set of motor mounts, milled down a set of mhz drive pedestals, and a few other things, never did either of these things before. I can tell you though that these areas will never expose even a hint of weakness in crash, running, etc. These few things made me pretty happy because it wasn't as straightforward as some might think.
You said its a well educated guess, its cool when you start talking to other experienced SAW cat people for the most part their is unanimous agreement on how MOST things should be done. This is probably why most of them are friends off the forum too lol.Comment

You can build an 80MPH boat (single) for under 1000 bucks, its not gonna be all pretty and nice and CF and all that but get an aeromaribe avenger or conquest put in a castle 2080 on 10S with a 462 prop and go??? anyone could build this boat with minimal building skills in less than a weeks worth of nights after work. And figure if this is what you want to do?? then go for a HIgh end CF hull with twin Lehners and such, but get your feet wet with something thats not gonna cost you 4-5kWe call ourselves the "Q"Comment

I like the RCMK hardware and the price is better than most also!
I would like to try the radtek 45'' hull with RCMK hardware! I think it would be a medium priced boat with high end results!!!
I would also like to try the Rove 6s lipo that Keith has been using. I like my SMC lipos. They don't have 6s that I'm looking for though.
I will be buying some 6s soon and I have the Revo in my sights.
I like my TP motors they scream! I would buy them again.
For big motor that I am using the SSS5694 1200kv and the SKYRC Beast 524 2Y 910kv make great power and hold up very well. The SKYRC 524 Marine motor I have hasn't been run yet to see how it does hold up. It does seem to have a lot of power though.
I like the high end stuff but the price just doesn't fit my needs. I do way to many builds in other rc stuff to sink that kind of money into a single build. I did do that once with a 1/5 Short Course Brushless build, I WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!twissted from speed. Lead, fallow or get out of the way. Copy cats in back of the buss!!!Comment
