Hi everyone. I need a boat built. Not racing but want to go fast. Thinking a cat so where around 40-45 inches. I've been looking around here for a while now but just signed up. I see that kfxguy is the man for building boats. Amazing work. I've seen a few others too but looks very similar to his especially the carbon work. So I rather go straight to the originator to have one built. Please recommend a good hull for driving fast for fun. I've seen the the smaller cats running 80 mph so I would think it would be easy for a little larger one. If kfxguy sees this please let me know what it would cost for a custom build. Or if someone knows him and how to reach him. Thanks everyone.

You can also check with tiqueman, Keith Bradley and maybe Rocstar... I don't know if Rocstar does work for customers, but he seems to do a lot of builds also. Have you looked through the build threads here & over at http://www.kbbforums.com/portal.php ?
Edit: Man I'm slow posting on the smart phone. You guys have already had a whole conversation, haha.Comment

Since I am currently having a new toy built by "The" kfxguy I must comment on this thread. Basically we gave each other our phone numbers and the build began. I will add that my build started off of one free ESC (SK180V3) and it will be in a VERY cool hull 32" Cat that he is working on for me.
Just send him a PM so you can get ideas started. He will let you know what he is doing and why he is doing it. I do honestly think that you will be very happy. If you shoot him an idea he puts his thoughts on it for the next 24 hours! He won't just tell you something won't work, he tells you why.Why are you bothering me? I want to see your boat!

KFXGUY is the truth with the boat builds...... In regards to Twins, I have a CF Shocker Twin I named "BIG CEE" and I have her up to 88MPH after only a couple months and that is with half butt props I balanced / sharpened myself ( rookie work :-) )and the batteries have not even been cycled fully 5 times yet so 90+ is in scope. KFXGUY did an inlay in it for me which seems to be "Bullet Proof" because before I learned how to drive a boat that fast I was upsetting the boat at the end of each pass and blowing it over at speeds of 70mph and 80mph! (50-60mph is where I used to be prior to June with all my boats ( 6 Total ), now all of them are in the Mid 60's/70's/ 80's with the exception of my 4 cell which is at 56mph) ( I'm coming up in the boat game with knowledge, in large part to this Forum!).
T is a good dude and is passionate about what he does. If he has the time and is able to build a boat for you rest assure he will put the attention and love into it as it's his own! I think the comments on here and work speaks for itself!

I've looked at other builds, but most seem to be very similar inside with the carbon parts. I like the look of carbon fiber inside, that's why I asked about kfxguy.
I hate when people say money is no object but in my case I like to pay for the best. I've read a few times that HPR is one of the best hulls. What hull of theirs would you recommend for a twin if I went that way? What is you opinion of them compared to the Keith bradly hull you medtion? Also what high quality motors and size would you use to go 80?Comment

How is the finish on the two hulls? Is one better then the other. I did a quick search on Lehner and they are very cool. Why would they be overkill? Are they too fast? The KV and voltage will determine the RPMs. What I don't know is how many are needed. If they are the highest quality that is the way I want to go. What KV and size would you use?Last edited by Waverider; 08-20-2014, 12:53 PM.Comment

If you are serious about having a boat like this built I would get in touch with KeithBradley, Rocstar(Joel), or Tiqueman(Scott). They all have experience with high end builds and years of boat building under their belts, Nata2run comes to mind also but he is out of country. I can't comment on hull finish as I've never had either in my hand but they are among the best as are lehners, and they are not overkill, just cost more....Comment

We don't sell a fiberglass 45, only carbon fiber.
In case you're not aware, a radtek, hpr, or mhz cat is not really comparable to some of the other cats mentioned here. The difference between these cats and something like a single motor fantasm/Daytona/river cat, etc. is just as big as the difference between those cats and a boat purchased at wal mart. They are incomparable in terms of cost and performance. Anyone who has owned both will tell you the same.
If you're interested in a high end hull, I'll be glad to direct you to what fits your needs best. Those who know me well will tell you that I'm honest and unbiased when it comes to recommendations. All of these boats have a place, it just depends on what your needs and budget are.Comment

^- An mhz, hpr or the radtek...its weird I remember when I first bought all of the parts and was like this is pretty expensive for rc boat parts, then you run it or see one run and you forget in a split second what you spent on it, it just doesn't matter anymore.
Sure it does matter blah blah blah but the drives, hull alignment, everything just makes for a very cool experience once on the water, the boats themselves look "calculated," on the water its hard to explain. You look at the price of drives, rudders, etc and it seems high and it is but like i said you forget about it once you see it run lol.
--Imo keith or kent to build a twin cat, if rocstar aka Joel is available hes another awesome builder!Comment

I really don't see what you're talking about Travis, he is saying the difference between an HPR, MHZ, KBB to a single Daytona, Fantasm, River is like the difference between a walmart boat and a and a single Fantasm, daytona, river.....You after all the vets lately or what?Comment
