I learned these lessons the hard way years ago:
- Polarize the connectors on your batteries/ESCs. This helps to prevent fried ESCs and shorted packs.
- When plugging in your packs, do not talk to anyone to minimize distractions. Otherwise you will eventually plug things in wrong...
- Always range check a new boat in the water. Checking only on land only tells you it works on land. Water is different.
- Don't skimp on hatch tape. Saving $0.05 by reusing it can cost you a $250 controller.
- Use a battery checker to make sure you actually charged that particular pack while in the heat of racing...
- Always check the direction of prop rotation prior to taping up. Just a quick blip of the throttle can save you a lot of time and grief.
- Always solder caps on your motor tabs to prevent radio interference...oh wait....
