This is also true when driving. Was answering questions from a barely dressed young cutey when I hear a loud thud underneath the dock, ----- thought I was much farther out.

Making sure your prop shaft collet is tight enough when upgrading from a 7 cell NiMh to a 3S lipo. A gain of 5,000+ RPM obviously makes a BIG difference

Lost my prop shaft and a pre-balanced and sharpened Grimracer 40x53 prop out the back of my Proboat Blackjack 24 on the maiden run with the 3S lipo. A nearly $50 prop gone in the blink of an eye!!!

That motivated me to sharpen and balance my props by myself.

It may not have been your fault, sorry to burst your bubbles. Yes, the 5000 more RPM could have been the cause for it but your collet might have been as tight as you could have set it that time. Remember, there is a lot of metal to metal galling when the collet is being tightened, and this galling actually prevents a good honest tight grip. Something I have learned from Fluid is to always put a dab of anti-seize compound on the threads of the collet, you will be amazed at how much smoother and further you can tighten the collet without damaging it. It is one of those magic tricks that you will be glad that you learned.

BTW, I am not trying to dismiss your observation, but I like to pass on a good trick when there is one.

I did the same thing a month or so ago with my GP400, I made 3/4 of a lap and it was gone! I do my own props and it hurts more cause I had about 3hrs in that new ABC 2116 + the shaft and hardware.

I dropped my Surge Crusher on the floor. Didn't try to catch it and it cracked the transom. Luckily it was a fiberglass hull and I was able to fix it. Now it is the only yellow boat with a black transom. Didn't have any yellow paint. lol.

This goes with safety and stupidity. Do not run your boats in marinas. Was running my miss Budweiser off the back of my boat and lost signal and right into a boat five boats down. Was lucky no damage to the 45' sea ray it hit but the bud was done. All my radios now have failsafes!

And don't turn of radio before unplugging batterys . All kinds of bad things happen.

And don't run your boat while listening to jimmy buffet, drinking margaritas and your friends telling you that it is a great idea.

Use the plastic bread clips/ties to put on battery cables of discharged ones. it's a fraction of a second to mark them and they come off as quick.

Don't buy cheap equipment/electronics. At least if you do, make sure people say positive things about them. Not being able to find an instruction manual online should have been my first red flag. 2nd, always double check that you have the failsafe setup correctly, and functioning. My boat went about 10 ft., lost signal, and went wide open throttle for about 1/4 mile until it hit the shore and got tangled in some weeds. I pulled the hatch and smoke rolled out like out of a Cheech & Chong movie. I lost a motor and ESC that day.
