Hey Andrew, I am having no luck with PM's! Just lost an hour and half f my life in frustration. I will try again later today. Anyrhhing you really need answered about the boat just ask in this thread.
Jeff
One quick question. I can buy the Cf cloth in 1.25m width or 1.5 width. Having not received the hull yet do you think it will be possible to get right into the bow of the hull with my hand to lay the cloth. I am told it is far better strength wise to place it in one piece.
When do you think you will be ready to launch your boat or is that the million dollar question? The way the invoices are piling up I think it will be the one million dollar boat!!!
Hopefully you get my pm. You will have no problem laying your material in. Big hatch and open access to bow tip. The other Indo I sent you may want to look at it open up a seminar area inside and out to see what's going on. Could cause problems down the road. What are your thoughts on motors. Lots of combinations will work. Some just a lot better than others. I would be starting a new these here asking for suggestions before you get to build as motors may take awhile to get. I have to admit I am curious to
Hi Andrew, I was checking out the infused CF sheet on the website you supplied. I would definatly enquire about specifically using for structural reinforcement on your boat hull. Reading up showed it worked well as a pre preg material in vacuum resin infusions and similar processes but as a wrap or skin they specifically mention it for cosmetic use. It may require a combination additional resin and heat for it to be used as a structural component for you boat. The. Only thing they recommended using it for outside bagging processes was cosmetic. Perhaps they have a way so you can make the most of this product. I think putting it down as is may have disappointing results. The information got really spotty for our application. I hope its not so as it would be awesome to never have to watch CF fray and make a mess again. Keith Bradley who is a member here mentioned using prepregs in a couple of his posts, he does the best CF work around period so it would be great if we can use as described. I have a feeling temperature curing is going to come into play here, I hope not!
I think you might have been looking at something slightly different to what I was suggesting which is http://www.easycomposites.co.uk/prod...195gsm-1m.aspx which is Pro Finish carbon Fibre. This is identical to the 2/2 Twill 3k 199g product other than it has been lightly sprayed on the reverse side with a resin binder.
I have just phoned them and the guy said it works exactly the same as the ordinary cf but doesn´t fray anything like the standard cf and is ideally suitable for boat hulls.
I´m going for it as I usually end up in a mess with the ordinary.
Hi.
I thought something was misinterpreted when you mentioned vacuum´s and temperature curing!!!
Have you looked at the HPR site specifically under ¨Gallery¨and the ¨Videos¨section. I know they are only 45 inches long but have a look at the set ups. Quite high KV motors.
Have you had a look at the 50 series Proteus motor which you can adjust the connections on allowing you to change the KV? Looks quite interesting. I think Hobby King also do something similar and I think Keith Bradley also supplies something similar.
Andrew would not recommend you to run the Proteus motors, nor would I recommend you running high KV setups (like 2200kv and above) unless the purpose is a 4-5s setup to begin with. A set of 1600kv motors and the right set of props you are already in the 80's mph (130km/h+) on 6s. If you are just starting out with those cats and not used to the high speed, it would not be healty for the setup if you are running partial throttle or a wrong set of props. Take the advice from many and see if you can get the TP motors, I think you would be better off.

Thought I would try and make some laminated Cf sheet using Perspex as the core material. Seemed to come out okay until I twisted it a bit. The cf had not adhered to the Perspex at all. Wonder if I roughened the Perspex which was smooth it would have worked??
To avoid confusion as I marked this thread MHZ 1140mm Catamaran, I have started a new thread (50 inch mono hull mystic style set up questions) Hopefully, thi will avoid confusion and not waste anyone´s time. Many thanks to all who contributed to this thread though.
