      Fella1340 Just love spell correction!!!

Iridebike, I can get this straight away from another German site and it´s a couple of euros less, no doubt the cooling jacket will be double the price!!

I have no understanding of most of the technical terms regarding electric motors apart from Can diameter and KV so I need to read up on this. For speed though why would this motor be recommended over a similar Leopard motor. I´m going for this motor though, just interested.

One other question. I note that Fella1340 and Axel painted their boats before placing CF and hardware. I was going to do everything else first, then take out the hardware and paint to avoid scratching etc. I´m not experienced in these matters but don´t want to cock it up.

Many thanks to everyone for their help to date. can´t wait for the hull to arrive, but can´t start anything until 23rd Dec (Birthday, great being a JUNIOR member as I will be 50!!)

the motor i gave a link to is for a motor for the mystic 44" hull, not the mono you chose. For the mono I can't really be of too much help but def. wouldn't put the 2350kv motor in it. the mystic is a high speed boat most people run between 70 and 100 mph. the motor i mentioned would work well for that purpose but this mono won't be going nearly that fast so I think we'll have to figure something else out. you can still use two seaking 180s, motors not sure...how fast do you want to go?

Hey Andrew, I haven't painted my boat yet. You were looking at two other members boats. The mess I will make doing the structural reinforcement and cosmetic finishing in the boat would likely ruin any paint that was on the hull! You are making the right decision in my opinion leaving the paint till
after the work is done. Good luck with your build, your going to love the boat once you lay your eyes on it! Pictures don't do it any.justice.

I thought it strange as I reinforced a RTR hull and even though being careful I still manage to get epoxy on the painted surface.

Evening all. Well after a bit of a saga due to me not quite understanding the in´s and out´s of E-Bay, the hull is now bought and paid for. The other bits and pieces I tried to order should be sorted tomorrow.

I am still not sure what to order regarding the motors. I am thinking 2 x Leopard 4082 x 1600KV with 2 x 180 amp Seaking Esc. Any thoughts anyone?

Many thanks to everyones help so far.

                Thanks.

Not sure about the motor choice for the P1. Having spent most of the afternoon on the internet this looks an interesting option? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=layUNsYcSec Or should I stick with twin leopard 4082 1600KV? Or anyone any better ideas?

Thanks Fella for the dimensions of hull.

                    Cheers

I.would give the TP motors a good look. I believe there are for sale here on OSE, not sure on what
Sizes. The leopards work well and a lot of people run them with great success. I will let more experienced members that are using them give you advice as to size and kv. It would be worth the wait to here what people recommend. I know your anxious to get an order in but a little patience might
pay off. Are your plans to run the motors on 6s each?

I have been doing some thinking and 1600kv seems very high for a boat this size. Trying to run it
6s and less with those kv's may end up in some very high amp pulls. Most boats that I have seen, and I
have looked at more then I can remember are running around the 1000kv or less on 8s to 10s a side.
I haven't run anything this big before but trying to do it on a low voltage setup running 1600kv would require some careful planning. Somebody please chime in here! That type of setup may be used running a cat but I don't think its suitable for a mono this size if your planning on getting any runtime
at all out of it. Lots of guys are doing all kinds of.crazy things on you tube but you rarely see them
Again outside of a setup description and a couple of videos. Twin 4092 at 1000kv running 8s or lower kv running 10s makes more sense to me. It won't be a super fast boat and if 70mph was achieved I would be very happy. I just don't know how fast this boat will go and stay and the water. It is definatly no SAW boat that is for sure. I am running a tp5660 (5692) 820kv on 10s2p as a single setup. I bet some guys can help get you into a setup that will give you the running time and speed you are looking for. The information I have given above is not based on mt personal experience and based on what I have seen run successfully. Hopefully we get somebody here that can give a more professional opinion on what would work best.
                        Jeff

One other thing, why don't you start a build thread with the proper description. Start fresh, you
will get the mono guys looking that way. Looking for p1 mono help under a mystic heading
just isn't going to work! Good luck. I may be wrong with what I have stated above but I do want you to have a successful build so please hang off on buying motors till you here from the pros!

Thanks for all the info Jeff. I will change to a build thread once I have received the boat. I can´t start the build until just after Christmas as it´s a xmas present!!

With regard to the motors, hopefully, someone might have already finished their build and able to report their findings. I´m not too proud to copy if it is successful.

I will buy my CF from this company http://www.easycomposites.co.uk/Cate...g-to-400g.aspx Scroll down and have a look at the Pro finish. Also if you phone them up they can give you on the spot accurate advice. I fancy the Pro Finish as the ordinary does tend to fray at the edges very easily. Don´t know how the price compares to the states but having looked on other European websites it all works out about the same price. God is the sheet expensive though.

One thing I think I will invest in or make if I can work out how they go together is these Lipo trays http://mbp-rc.de/Liposchienen-flat-S...ove-80-350mm_1 Come in various sizes and if you watch the video you can see how easy it is to move the position of the batteries thus changing the COG. I imagine someone on here has a design for making them or something similar.

                            Thanks for your help.

Andrew you can make those but you have to get the right parts to make it work. they are all based on the same method, 2 grip screws and a lock screw. Attached is the set I make

Thanks for that. It´s very kind of you to show how they work as this is your business.

I checked out the import duty into Spain. They charge the tax at 21% and then the duty at between 4 and 17% depending on the product plus you have to pay someone to make the customs clearance for you. On top of this, the process takes about 4 weeks from arrival of the product into Spain. This makes importing items into Spain expensive and time consuming. The hull I have bought is from China and it saves a lot of time and money having it sent to the Uk where you have about a 1 in 10 chance of getting collared for the tax and the process is much quicker.

One question which I hope you don´t mind answering. Is there anything in particular you should check when buying Cf cloth or sheet, or is it all pretty much of a muchness?

                                Cheers
