New to fast electrics, looking for advice

I'm a scale model boat builder so I know something about this subject. I want to buy and build either the Aero-Challenger 31 inch or 43 inch hull. I plan on modeling it with decals after a classic boat of the 80's, Bounty Hunter, Bennihana, something like that. Hoping this forum will help me pick out the hardware. First I need to figure the cost of the hardware for either boat so I can figure out which boat to get. I would rather have the larger boat, but not sure what the end cost would be. I have to come up with a complete list of what I need. Can you guys help me? In the meantime I'll browse this forum to see what I can learn.

a 3674:
4s about 2000-2200kv
5s about 1700-1800kv
6s about 1500-1600kv

will do just fine ,balanced out gives easily 80km/h (50mph)
don't know your budget ,but a 4082 is not realy needed for a 31 inch hull,rather overkill in my book

A friend of mine has the 4082 in a similar size mahogany boat and it's fast, that's why I started with it. I'm not up to speed on where to go with brushless, or LiPO for that matter. All my current boats have brushed motors and NiMH. Cost, it is and it isn't.

I would disagree with the motor choice. The 4082 would be better. Vee hulls require a fair amount of power to push them. I run a 4082 in my 29" mono and its perfect. I couldn't really see a 3674 being enough for that hull if your looking for decent speeds. Just my 2 cents.

Changed it back to the 4082 with the water cooled motor mount. Just have to determine which 4082. If I decide to go to the 43 inch hull don't think I'll need to change much.

Would the water cooled mount and motor jacket run off of the same lines? Or run a separate line for each?

Why would you use m/mount cooling and jacket too? The reason for cooling m/mount is for motors with holes in both ends of motor. The air comes thru front of motor and out the rear for cooling. Just get a jacket and place a brace under rear of motor for support after alignment with stuffing tube and cable for smooth operation. You could use basswood and cut to correct angle to motor and bottom of hull and glue into place. Don't glue to motor but to bottom of hull. Vibration will be nil and makes a solid unit.

I have a modded 36" Shockwave with a 4074 2200kv on 4s and it moves pretty good with a x646/3 prop,
And getting good run times and speeds of 45 mph.

Is this the boat you are talking about ?

Yup, that would be the one! I use have a 19 runabout, we would go off the Belmar beach and these boats would be right off the shore. Took tons of pictures. Also went to the marina's where they were on trailers and put in the water.

38mm prop is to small on that 4082, look towards 45mm to start.

Here is a 45mm. Does it matter much on the manufacturer of the props? Or 2 blade or 3?

I like the three blades on mono because I think they make the boat run smoother,
And with less torque roll on the hull.
