this is all it needs and just put her in the water and run the hell out of it lol

        Requires:
        (8) AA Alkaline Batteries.
        (2) 6 Cell Sub C Battery Packs with Dean Connectors.
        (1) Charger for the Sub C Battery Packs with a Dean Adapter.

I think the SV27 is a great entry level boat. There is a lot of good information on this forum about it.

              SV.

in my opinion the sv has more professional hardware than the bj the running gear is metal compared to plastic on the bj you also have a better option for adjustments

I'm a beginner too and just got a SV27 as my first boat.
This one is fast and very fun to drive... Love it!

Note: I don't really agree that it's 'RTR' because mine had a number of small assembly flaws that should be adressed,,,, the biggest flaw was bad leakage through the transom and this is something you should look into right away before driving the boat.

                          It's easy to fix;
                          ------------
                          - remove all hardware from the transom (everything off; rudder, trim planes, prop strut)
                          - coat transom with a layer of silicone
                          - put hardware back and tighten screws
                          - wipe of excess silicone with a damp towel

                          Batteries:
You can drive the boat on 6cell Nimh pack x2(series) or 2cell Lipo x2(series) or 4cell Lipo x1(single) or 4cell Lipo x2(parallell).
The boat is pre-wired with Deans male connectors in series so two deans equipped 6cell Nimh packs or two 2cell Lipo packs plug straight in with no modification.
The amp draw is about'ish 45amp so make sure your batteries can handle that... shoot for ~4000mah capacity.

If it is in your budget I would strongly recommend LiPos. You will not be disappointed.
