today I tried a different esc I had lying around. it is 125a esc, this esc has the correct timing on default.

I installed 2 caps 35v 1000uf

ran for 3mins and then got stranded in the middle of the pond, after retrieving the boat, the ec5 connectors between the battery and the esc melted and welded together, the negative lead unsoldered itself.

Where does it say the default timing setting?

I am not sure what speeds you are getting with yours with no gps or video's of it running.

So with no video and no pictures of the whole boat setup with hardware on the transom and drive line,
Like I asked you to post some time ago.

So we could try and help stop you from burning your boat up.

But the first thing I would buy is the 5.5 bullets.

Than you should read and learn about what works,
Than if you want to try and mod a setup you will have some idea what is going on with it.

Here. The choices with the asterisks are the default settings. He's just pushing that motor too hard. Need a 40mm can with lower kv on higher voltage (more cells). If you have 4s lipos, go with an 8S arrangment.
