Maybe you did all that soldering to practice your soldering skills? lol
I think the real lesson here is that alcohol and electricity don't mix.

Burning up something is no fun , sorry it happened!
But may be if you had a few drinks today, you would have been in the same place and not burned it up? just kidding...
No ,seriously, we are all "wired" differently, I can understand why one moment's idea can make you do something like that, we are not computers, humans do that kind of things. Just hope you can get back to action asap!

Its done. But don't feel bad, I can top that. Here's an expensive lesson learned. I was setting up one of my twin drive cats and had thin carbon fiber motor mounts so I screwed in the mount screws into the motor winds. One motor was churping (later realized it was because one of the winds shorted out). The esc on one side cooked. I thought, must have been a bad esc, and decided to troubleshoot with the other, fried it too. So my mounting incorrectly cost me two motors and two escs... $390 lesson learned...

Yup not many of us are perfect.
-knocked an Etti esc of the bench and next run out....up in smoke, lots of smoke
            - constantly touching battery leads together by mistake...whole bag of burned connectors
-multiple times forgetting to hook up a water line inside of hull....boat full of water
-got to the pond and forgot batteries or radio....multiple times
-burned up brand new Seaking 120....don't even ask
I think you get the idea. lol
I'm really starting to think that maybe I'm not that bright?
