Ouch! a bit more than a "small crack" ;-) I would use some marine grade epoxy with some micro ballons mixed in to thicken it a bit. Or just the epoxy itself. Looks like it hit something solid. but not too bad, very fixable. Try to search for ABS glue epoxy or glue.

Is there room to adjust motors for a bigger pinion gear? I would put it all together and run it and see how you like it before you get too involved in it. Sometimes it can be cheaper to start with something fast and make it faster than to take something not so fast and try to make it fly. These were made to be a fun boat with longer run times and not HIGH speed. Speed is always directly related to $$$$ decide how fast you want to go? Not saying it WON'T go fast. Enjoy and have fun with it.

Well, thats a fine example of a nice Villain for sure! Get the front end fixed up first. Then simply install you r new motors as they will be a direct fit. Try it first with the stock props, you may need to upgrade to steel U joints with 8-10 times the power of stock!! Also, you will need to find some big spur gears to handle the power as the "delryn over metal" gears will give way eventually. You will also need to get different pinions as the Velineon shafts are 5mm I believe...........if I'm wrong then you are good............for a bit.

Good info guys, should I try and split the hull or just fill it in? if so, how can I split it without hurting it more?

          2. what is some good rattle can paint that will hold? basically, what are these hulls made out of, plastic or lexan or what?

            Hi Mudn_1

I have built several of the Graupner offshore style kits which have ABS hulls. They recommend a glue called Stabilit Express. It is available from specialists hobby suppliers in UK. presume that it is available in US. This will certainly fix your hull as it will stick virtually anything to ABS or fill joints. Whatever you do, don't try splitting and rejoining. It will be a total pain to try and do properly.

I would not split it. Worst case if u find no glue for ABS plastic Home Depot or wherever and get some quality white or clear cilicone and fill the hole. When u get enough in there wet your finger and smooth it out nice.

I sealed it up this morning with some plasti-weld..... and this afternoon did some bathtub testing..... she floats!!! the only place I seem to get any water is through the servo arm grommet hicky's.... what do ya'll do here? marine grease? its just a bit and thats with me pushing it down in water....

also, what kind of paint is best for ABS? I have some different krylons as well as some lexan paint...

I just use the cheap "Rustoleum" type rattle can enamel paint, I've made some of my boats look pretty nice with those.

The steering boots are bound to let in a bit of water unless they are brand new, greased and supertight, remember, when you are running the boat they are not in the water. 99% of RC boats get some amount of water in them.

Thats what I figured....do you have any villian parts that might interest me, such as props, upgraded shafts, watercooling etc. that you want to part with?
