    2013 NAMBA Fast Electric Nationals

    Good morning ladies and gents,

Bill Oxidean of Venom/Atomik here giving you some insight on next year's nationals.
They will be held at lake Minden in Minden, California (near Sacramento) tenatively in late june/mid July though we have no set date yet.
Lake Minden is a wonderful facility (for those who have never raced there) Extremely camper friendly, cabins for rent, as well as a nearby hotel.

I have spoken with a few of my sponsors, and they are VERY excited to put on an event like never before!
Piles of raffle prizes, Professional catering (courtesey of A-Main Hobbies) SUPER high (15+feet!) jacked up driver's stand made of scaffolding.
Amazingly beautiful trophy girls, staggered winner's podium for photos, professional photographer, night entertainment, and our banquet will be on-site. and Many other great surprises!
Our concept is throwing an epic event that draws racers of all types, from all over. Our goal is to bring FE more mainstream with LOTS of media coverage..

Completely surveyed regulations electric course, so lap records will be possible and valid!
Come get a taste of the Warm Northern California atmosphere, while taking your shot at a championship title!

California Again? To be "frank", this sucks for us guys that are 3000 miles away! It seems its been on the west coast for 4 of the last 5 years.

I'm sorry to hear you feel that way Steve.
Still this will be an EPIC event! I personally travel to all 4 corners of the country yearound to get some! : )
Nothing about this race will suck : ) To my knowledge, Colorado isn't the west coast. They may have surf shops, but no beaches lol!
Through being a 9-year consecutive nats attendee, I intend to utilize the best element of each of those, and incorperate it into our race!
I can't stress enough how great some of the things this race has in store are. It will be well worth it..

        '08 Northern Ca
        '09 Michigan
        '10 Colorado
        '11 Florida
        '12 L.A.

Not quite, Steve, but I get your point.

I put in alot of time regarding the venue for '13, and even gave Dist 1 first dibs because there is a "void" year after year in the Northeast. They declined again as they just don't have the facility.

I then solicited 5 other districts. Randy/Wilmer and Dist 9 stepped up.

For those interested in having the Nat's, there is an upswell in interest right now. Nothing is in stone and it certainly isn't anything formal (nor is it my call), but I have a pretty good idea what the next 4 years could look like with the interest that has been expressed. Interest from districts that are up and coming in the FE ranks, too.

It's healthy for FE, but it also means you will need to get pro-active if you want to be considered for this event. If your club has an interest, get with your District Director. Drop me a line, too. There is no problem with getting my support to break rotation tradition to get a new club or a geographically fair club to host the event.

Edit: 2013 is set and the bid approved. My comment above about breaking rotation is for future years. I don't want a club to feel like they have to wait to bid if we've got the next 3-4 years penciled in. NAMBA wants bids. All will be reviewed fairly and bids are only approved 1 year at a time.

I would just like to stress that alcahol is PROHIBITED anywhere on the race site from the pits to the drivers stand to ANYWHERE. evening time after the races is a different story, but we must have a sober event.
I also agree that District 1 would be a great venue for 2014, but what better way to enhance an up and coming club than to host a nats, so the interest Dave has been getting from these new clubs sound even better.

I'd recommend you include a drink holder as well... for after the racing, of course...
