Not quite, Steve, but I get your point.

I put in alot of time regarding the venue for '13, and even gave Dist 1 first dibs because there is a "void" year after year in the Northeast. They declined again as they just don't have the facility.

I then solicited 5 other districts. Randy/Wilmer and Dist 9 stepped up.

For those interested in having the Nat's, there is an upswell in interest right now. Nothing is in stone and it certainly isn't anything formal (nor is it my call), but I have a pretty good idea what the next 4 years could look like with the interest that has been expressed. Interest from districts that are up and coming in the FE ranks, too.

It's healthy for FE, but it also means you will need to get pro-active if you want to be considered for this event. If your club has an interest, get with your District Director. Drop me a line, too. There is no problem with getting my support to break rotation tradition to get a new club or a geographically fair club to host the event.

Edit: 2013 is set and the bid approved. My comment above about breaking rotation is for future years. I don't want a club to feel like they have to wait to bid if we've got the next 3-4 years penciled in. NAMBA wants bids. All will be reviewed fairly and bids are only approved 1 year at a time.

Sorry I felt like the kid that Santa didnt bring the correct gift to. I bet the race will be a good one.

I would like to see a p- cat Sprint class along with the return of p ltd Sprint cat. Seems like a lot of guys are putting the castles and the 4074 leopards in their mystic / MC/ mean machine/ etc cats. I think the min boat count would be met no problem.

@ Steve, the good news is you have almost a whole year to plan and make accomodations (spelling) .

Making far-away races every year ain't cheap and strains the wallet regardless. I have to start a savings account every year to make the Winter Warmups; now need twice the travel/race funds to make that and the Nat's. Sacrifices have to be made. Looks like I won't be going to the "ballet" this year to save all those dollar bills for the races.

The '08 Nat's in Minden was just beautiful, the setting and course was superb. My favorite photo from that race : The sun setting on the Snowman :

As Dick Crowe told me years ago, the nats are really for newcomers to get a great taste of our sport, so right on!

The only good part is the boys want to go to California. The bad part is they dont pay their share.

Gents, please don't be skewed by my wording, this isn't my race, its OUR race, all FE attendees, so any constructive suggestions of what you would like to see, or particular classes run feel free to suggest.
Randy and I will take all these things into consideration. Heck, we've got a whole year lol!

We will have all the P LTD Classes you can count on that. As far as a P Cat Sprint class I think we should make it a 1/8 car motor class! I want to do something that is fun and not done before.

Lake Minden is a great race site. Just waiting to hear what the finalized dates are. The early June date we were given at the banquet made it a no go for a lot of us up in the PNW. That whole "kids still in school" thing, because there's no way John and I can go to Nationals without Kylie at this point.

It would suck to not make a race that's so close to home. If we can't make the FE nats next year, well there's always another race.
