limitedr1 the boat in question darting to the right was with upgraded motor & esc on 6s, with the stock setup the boat was fine re darting to the right. It was when the motor was a 3500w 4082 - 1600kv on 6s & 180a esc under hard excelleration that this happened, boat was running around 55mph wot with upgradeds & offsetting the rudder cured this problem.

Hate to stick my nose in. I read the whole thread especially the dremel touching the rx/servo area/portion of the thread. Sounds like wiring leak in receiver that is internal in receiver. Now the walls in rx between servo and esc and etc are pretty thin. I wonder if isolating rx from servo with tin foil would help. I had to do that 2 cts. with am and JR> equipment and that answered my problem. 2 cts.Comment

I have been around and in love with the full scale offshore racing circuit going back to the old Bertrum and Cigarette racing hulls in the late 60's and early 70's. I never got too caught up in the scale appearance thing until the first Mystic 50 I ever saw. In my opinion that boat stands all alone in the sex appeal department over any other racing boat I have ever seen. I have had model racing cats for over 20 years now and up to this point the best looking cats approximated the Jessie James Skater cats but still nothing jumped out as stand alone no question about it that that is the best looking boat I ever saw until the Mystic 50. So when I saw the Proboat cats painted like a full scale Mystic boat I had to shake my head. How could they get it so wrong to think that looks anything like the Mystic hull. Please don't be offended I am not putting down the Proboat model for anything other than it doesn't look anything like a full scale Mystic 50. That statement is just fact and is not open to debate. In fact in my opinion I think the hull shape of many of these other brand cats look more like a Army tank with a tiny turret on the deck than a true full scale Mystic. I believe the argument defending the designs of these other models will be they need a wider than full scale width to aid stablity running at the speeds we do. I can't argue that just that the over all look has nothing to do with a full scale Mystic. Just like putting a blond wig on anyother women did not make her Marilyn Monroe. (I know I am showing my age) The Genesis prepainted model from the first moment I saw it finally spoke to me. The fact that there is no real full scale Genesis proves the point. The real full scale Mystic boat that inspired the Genesis is a real boat called the Aquamania. Nearly identical in appearnace but the full scale boat sponsor would not allow the 37 inch model Mystic design makers to use the name so hence the Genesis. I fully believe there is a good reason these model boats built in exact proportions to the full scale Mystic usually out run most other models in straight away speed is because the Mystic 50 is the worlds fastest offshore boat on the planet. I believe there are now 7 such full scale Mystics and they all are 210 mph machines. There may be a lot of imatations but so far nothing else looks quite as good. Again my opinion.

Fred you are correct. I have seen several guys wrap their reciever in foil trying to shield both incoming and outgoing RF issues. In the case of the dremel test this usually is more of a vibration test that sometimes occurs in isolated circumstances from "harmonic" frequency generated interferrence.

The difference that we saw was also in turns where you had to take a wider sweeping turn otherwise the boat would turn jittery through out the turn & also flip at times. Now the boat can take 180degree turns really sharpe & the boat is planted & on railsComment

well before i took mine apart it was hitting 51mph but im sure it goes faster but i just cant get it there straight,,, anyway im building as fast as i can did primer, some airbrushing andmore today,, got more painting to do over all the gray you see but its getting there,,Comment

I could put one of my higher kv motors and prob get closer to mid 50's but not really prctical for me till I can find a more open body of water to let her stretch her legs. I have a 1600 and a 1850 kv that would probably get me there. So maybe won't ever have to get to that point to worry about a rudder mod.

well it was going well but after taping off the small section under the side CF paint, i sprayed my next color and when removing the tape it pulled off some of the cf paint so now back to the autoparts store for more of the candy green, im going to have to cover the cf sides with the candy green, that sucks cuz its not the way i wanted it but owell,,Limitedr1 i have a big azz lake i run in so my 4074 2200 and 200a esc is great if i can get the buggs worked out!!Comment

Well I just had a similar issue on my single drive k.o.s. Tonight, only it was not under acceleration.it was when I let off the throttle it jerked right, and hard. Was running great up till about 8min into the run. Them it started acting up. Hamered it, took off great let off all the way to slow down to turn around and it actually flipped. Landed on her feet so brought her back in after my heart started to beat again thinking something happened to the servo or linkage and notta. All was very tight. I have no idea what's going on with it. Sucks cause is my favorite boat. So put it back in and it seemed fine then pow it did it again. Its never done this. Was thinking something electrical like something got wet. There was alittle water but not much. Plus my mr200 is in a balloon. So im lost. I treid everything to get something to glitch but no luck. The only weird thing I see is the rudder seems to have some play side to side it dose not sit perfectly vertical with transom but im guessing its always been that way. I even stuck the antenna wires in bowls of water trying to get something to happen....I will keep playing with and see what I can find out. Anyone know if people are having problems with the mr200?Comment

I havent forgotten about this thread, just an update still working on the painting but soon ill be able to get it together and get to testing the pull wright thing,,heres where im at for now thow...Comment

That looks great! Are you going to pinstripe along the edges of the colors?
BTW... my Daytona also started veering right with throttle. Not a sudden snap to the right, but seemed proportional to throttle. At full throttle, it looked like i was giving maybe 30% right rudder - pretty substantial. Could be a function of speed (mechanical problem) vs a function of throttle input (electrical problem). It started to do it after a couple of high speed crashes. The last one snapped my servo mount in half (wood) and bent my control rod. It obviously landed hard on the rudder. I fixed and remounted everything. There is a little play in the linkage, but it was there before when the boat tracked straight. I haven't spent much time trouble shooting it. I had to add so much left rudder trim that something must be wrong. With everything lined up and zero trim, it veers to the right with speed. I suspect it's mechanical since it started after the blow over. The boat landed upright each time and there wasn't much water inside. I also "water proofed" my receiver beforehand.
I'll be watching to see what you guys come up with and will update if I get off my butt and get my boat back in the water. I have a couple new receivers (GT3B) on their way just in case.Disclaimer: I hereby accept the potential loss of motor, ESC, entire boat, or credit rating, and forfeit all expectations of success.Comment

Hey guys, for any of you that are experiencing this turn to the right issue would you mind just telling us what radio and frequency this is happening on? I am not trying to suggest it is a radio issue but for a number of other reasons I am interested in gathering any trends.
Thanks,

Prop-a-Gator you are the second guy to ask about pinstrips. what do you recomend..
Dave i use Tactics in all my boats,, and com to think about it i have a 32 vhull that if i give full throttle to quickly it will pull hard to the wright also,,hummm.Comment

I truly don't have any reason to suspect radio issues but because I tend to over think these situations and relive days gone by through these discussions. I am enjoying discussing these things because it brings me to a happy place in my past. The common link between all of these boaters is the turning direction is never to the left. If the boat's reaction is a gradually progressive turn to the right then that would describe a prop walking situation and that would require left radio input to counter this normal force. This would also be considered not necessarily a mechanical failure. If the boats problem is truly sudden and jerky, that does not sound like a prop walking situation and does need further investigation to deal with the problem. Saddly without actually seeing the problem first hand we are subject to the description of the problem in words and choice of words can be misunderstood. (Happens to me all the time).
The really neat thing about our modern radios is we now have the ability to mix into our radios stick movement a modest corrective counter action to make steering the model almost seamless and effortless. Helicopter guys take this forgranted now. Feeding a small amount of left turn into the throttle channel is considered a highly skilled talent for the highest performing modelers. Slop in our linkage is never a good thing but for many weekend park racers not all that uncommon. Still as I have stated before on this forum, the fact remains that prop walking will not rotate the rudder of a normal working rudder servo. Unless the rudder comes out of the water or the rudder servo for some unexplained reason suddenly rotates (to the right?) a sudden hard turn to the right for the boat should not be possible. This thread started because of the discussion regarding a cat hull. Cat hulls react differently than deep vees. Hooking and a whole list of other weird reactions exhibited by cats is most offen attributed to weight distribution.
I was the lucky (?) recipient of a discarded gas cat that was docile and wonderful at speeds below 56 mph. Problem was the previous owner was dead set to run 60 mph or he considered the boat trash. Any speed above 56 cause the boat to suddenly with out warning hook right or spin out. I won't try to tell you I got around this problem but I did trade that problem for a different problem. Now the cat will blow over trying to run up past 60, by moving rearward the balance point. I introduced a air dam or spoiler and then the hooking reappeared. I think this is a airfoil aerodynamic issue. The boat runs better with better control without the factory cowel. I don't think this is the case with the Genesis however.
Sorry to have run on but my ADHD kicked in.
