So guys here I am with more newbie questions: sorry to be such a bother.
Is this bend ok for a .187 flex cable, the motor will be mounted in the back. When I push the cable into the 1/4" tube ( w/o teflon liner) I really ''feel" the bend. Won't the cable be like a file and in no time wear out the stuffing tube? DSCN2268_1743.jpg

Can you try it in the hull with the shaft supported by the stinger/strut with some grease. it does not look to bad to me. just running some cable threw it will feel different than when the shaft is running in the bush/bushes and the flex cut to length.

Here is a mock-up:DSCN2269_1744.jpg I have reinforced the transom with 3/32 ply wood. I used WestSystem 105/206 with filler. as i mentioned earlier the transom is not flat inside so I poured 3 oz. of that stuff and now the wood is on nice. BTW, I glassed the floor with FG cloth to joining seam of the hull, first time I used West System and I got to admit I love it.
Is this acceptable? I know the motor could move more rearward but just want to know if I am not completely on the wrong track.

looks good, of the few mono,s i have done with the motor in the rear,all you can do is get the motor as low as possible to get as little bend as you can. But only having a short piece of stuffing tube means a tighter bend,but i never found it to be a problem as there is less cable so less friction and less the cable pulls up.

Double sided tape all the hardware on if its not bolted up, and place batteries etc in see were your c.o.g is at

yeah, I thought so too, the cable is 24" long , has not been cut and I was just thinking out loud, it is not supported by the bushing, when the stinger mates with the 1/4" tube the cable will be centered. I was hoping to find a support for the stuffing tube http://kintecracing.com/Building_Supplies.html but it is out of stock and this one unfortunately is not designed for 4" spacing. I had to shimmer a 9/32 tube outside of the 1/4" to get it tight because it is for 7mm tube. ( had to slice opuen the 9/32 and file it so it fits right. All in all a bit ungainly buy liked the aluminum support.

Looks good to me Tim, but I'm a cat man. Haven't built a mono yet, so I'd listen to those who have.

Too bad you were too late to see the Nats - was fun and learned a lot. The best boat builders and fastest FE racers on the planet were there. I - good boat builder, newbie racer - was there from Monday PM thru Thursday. It was far more hectic pace with sprint & Offshore racing than it was at the SAWs. So many sprints - so many classes- so many boats, including three of my own. Went back home to San Diego on Friday morning as I had no more races scheduled. Would have loved to had the time to eat more of those great feasts cooked up by Kim Grim, and attend the awards banquet - but couldn't justify $$ for two more nights at the Ramada Inn.

I'm planning on being at the NAMBA SAWs at Legg Lake in October. SAW races are conducted at a far slower & more relaxing pace - except when you're on the water - gives you some quality time to talk to the racers & check out thier builds.

I have been double taping all the hardware now to see the best combination for COG.
Don't know how you guys do it, builder and racers---that is just fab! I went there Sunday and a bunch of gassers were doing timed trials, I can only imagine how hectic the previous days had been. I am a cellist by trade and I was mad as hell when I realized Friday's concert demanded extra rehearsals.

The Lizard Exteme hull ....motor choice ....batteries...hardware can make it either a dud or a great boat...COG is very important.

I have double taped all essential hardwares, the COG is spot on, I was worried that my motor needs to go further back, I guess no need for it with the weight hanging outside of the transom.
Some questions:
#1, Are these trim tabs any good, I know they are for looks but I have a reason, the transom double can only go so far down, the "regular" trim tab mounting holes are too close to the bottom---even with 1or 2mm up from the outside floor. These trim tabs have a higher mounting hole.
#2, is the trim tab in a correct location in relationship to the stinger?
#3, The rudder is too long, any common guideline as to how much is shortened?

P.S. I could not find my Seaking 180 ESC, the ESC was used for weight only.

Douggie, I hear you, my guildeline COG is at 30%, can adjust. Any idea would be a great help. Running 4s2p, the only thing is I have a LEO 4082, 2000kv on hand, I know Tony said most people run Neu1515 1y 2200kv, but I don't want to spend that extra $$$, you think it is ok for now, can change later if it is only the motor or is this a bad idea?

Your COG is conservative...what batteries...prop ...ESC.. motor will be fine with the right prop and your aspirations.
