OMG
Whats the chance of having a moderator move the posts 81 and later to the Forum Section Titled "National Rules - Bitch and Wine - section for Sport Runners"?
Alot of us come on these forums to get away from our nagging wifes that can't seem to let something go that happened 10 years ago. Get over it. The rules are working and working well.
Lets get the thread back on subject - something about the job well done at the LA Saws.Comment

Interesting
Typical.....I guess you guys will ruin this forum like you killed RRR. I was just courious about the prop.

Great job guys. I envy the forum members in California...I would love to attend this event but going cross country with the wife and kids just isn't going to happen for FE boats. Unfortunately my wife tolerates my hobby more than she enjoys it, and I'm not selfish enough to go for myself so for now I guess I miss out.
I know there are a handful of us in the midwest...it would be interesting to have a get together out here.Comment

Steve - Your posts were not bitching and moaning about the P-Limited rules so obviously my post was not intended for you. As for RRR, RRR itself ruined RRR. Its called "Selective Censorship". They might as well shut er down - its dead.
Keith - Are you looking for Midwest SAW's or heat racing. Michigan has one of the finest heat racing clubs around. Check out the Mid-Michigan Fast Electrics. Besides Michigan, we got racing in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Canada. Way too many to chose from. We are getting alot of Nitro converts coming over to electric. Growing like mad.Comment

oops i guess i opened a can there.
I wanted to add a couple of things, I was asking because i started doing the shrink and silicon thing after seeing tony do it, having already burnt up a few motors. I was never concerned with him cheating, one could put 8 layers of wrap on the wires, doesn't change what the wires will handle just keeps them from self destructing. I always ran an m445 on my 2030kv aq motor, It did well in my geico, but my vegas needs a lot more set up work. The amp draw was above what the motor is spec'd at though so how can i blame the motor? I just asked so in the rare/unlikely event that I win a few heats, my motor would be considered legal. I have witnessed Tony do more for the hobby then a lot of people, he truly love FE boats and it is clear after 5 min of talking to him, why would he cheat?? Oh he didn't ok. If i haven't said it already congrats on the record Tony you deserve it and have set the bar high.
Also i have had my proboat spec motor for a while now and have run it on 4-6s on a variety of props, it rarely gets over 110. I really want to run up front on that motor cause it seem like everyone opts for the higher kv of the aq motor. But look at the rotor on the proboat motor, its huge in comparison the aq rotors. Not knowing much about motors i don't know exactly what that would mean but i know that motor is solid, has outlasted my aq motors for sure, on the same props and more often on larger ones.
It did seem strange that i could go through 5 sets of packs and the motor (aq motor) would get to about 115 when i pulled it of, then mysteriously one run would just melt the wires together and bye bye motor, reading about others experience i guess im lucky not to have taken out me esc with it.
I see no problems with p spec, it is there for people that have rtrs. Buy a ul1 and go race lt, buy a Ms. G a MC or a impulse and race in LSH.
Wilmer, you were a real cool guy when i met you at the la saws some time ago, but i have to say im not a fan of novak. Had one of their systems fry out of the box then i drove to their location and was treated like a piece of crap, had a tech on hand but didn't want to serve a customer that was physically there, the turned me away and made me wait a week to get it back. Then they returned it in a condition that was not to the standard of the item purchased and the sensor wire effs up every now and then and you have to jiggle it about to get it to go again, try telling that to a turn marshal. No its not broken you just have to jiggle the wire on that brand new 180 dollar motor esc combo. Ive been hoping they would go out of business ever since. Spoke to bryan newman and several others about the issues but never really resolved the matter. So crap products , bad customer service and a price point that is average. What is there to like?Comment

Nervous? I think some of you ought to come give it a try before you decide just how "easy" it is to obtain some of these speeds.
Please... COME DO IT! You won't regret the experience...Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

Way to go Tony! Now I have a target! I have the same setup.
Thats going to change with a new esc though, I want to see how fast I can make mine go on 2s with a lehner stuck in it.
It's funny, I've given up on trying to convince people they don't need a 4074 to go fast in a Motley Crew. I've spent hours sanding, filling, checking strut angle to the 10th of a degree, strut depth measured off a setup board, playing with props, cg etc. All I have to show for it is a damn fast bone stock boat!
Unfortunately I'll never make it to an official speed event, doesn't stop me from reading the records and going for broke on my own. Never get bored with this hobby! If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?Comment

Every time there's a SAW event these guys push the envelope. Doesn't seem to matter if it's NAMBA or IMPBA. There's something about SAW's and SAW guys. Wired different. The speeds always inspire me. I finished up a brand new rigger design yesterday afternoon. It's all your fault guys. I'll probably start making SAWdust this weekend. HAHA Brians little rigger was converted to SAWdust prior to re-entry into earths atmosphere.
Some things never change. When ever a record is set there's always someone prepared to accuse the achiever of deception. Maybe it's human nature...........I can't personally get to 103mph on 2s.......therefore I must conclude that Brian cheated to do it. It's broken logic but some people make can't accept that someone has skill they don't. Anybody remember the Spirit of the Eagle? Bet Randy does. DQ'd from 2500 miles away because someboy didn't like the design. SO wrong! Chris went 139mph on 8s. I can't do it so it must be the timing lights are off? Instead I should be thinking "I can't go 139..........yet". The funny thing about FE guys is that they would probably help me get to 139 if I was serious about trying to.
The rules controversy is out of left field. The shrink debate aside, I haven't heard all kinds of racket outside of this thread. There's no controversy at our pond. We turn a ton of laps at our races. Motor failures are very rare and are usually mine because I'm willing to sacrifice equipment to find the envelope. I baked one motor last season. It was an SVR motor from 2010. Too much prop......but it was soooo prittty. I'm predicting no failures this season for me. All my research is done.Noisy personComment

I think if you look carefully at one of the pics above of Brian and Tyler's Dad tinkering on Tyler's Q-Hydro, you'll see that strut adjustments are done with FEELER GAUGES... ".003 up and .002 under the front..." are the types of things you'll hear around the pits when adjusting these things. Can be the difference between 117mph average and a 122 mph average...
But, what was that prop's pitch again???Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA
