For me that's about 75% of the fun at every race. That's just me though. Every time I forget that I have a crap time.

I wish there was a good venue for SAW's closer to me.

You and me both. Everytime I read threads like this, it motivates me to participate in a SAW event. Sounds like a great time, both racing and hangin out with everyone.

This i know is true because i have experienced it. This is one of the reasons i didn't think asking "what prop" would be such a big deal, I wasn't thinking how public the forum was i guess. Tony always seems to be trying to share secrets when you show up to the lake. Only issue is gas is 4.25 and i drive a full size truck, a leg lake trip cost me about 50 bucks right now and 3 hrs of driving. Add that to the 40+ hr work week, 10 hours for school, and still give my GF attention ( she thinks i spend too much time with my boats.) AS as much as i'd like to be at legg every weekend it just makes more sense to rip on the lake i live 10 min from. For now I will continue my testing and i'll see you guys in march for some p spec/sport action. If i have any luck at all (my last name being Shaughnessy means i do) I'll be running the pace with the big dogs and some clean piloting skills will get me a finish in the top 3.

Mike, once I got bit by the racing bug, I had to sell my beautiful customized 9 mpg pickup & buy a newer higher mpg car. (add @ 5K to the cost of racing.) Phoenix is an 850 mile round trip that I've made six times so far. And if I had a GF as fine as yours, I'd spend less water time myself (plus she likes to share the donuts & M&M's). Look forward to seeing you at the race.

See there's where you messed up. You keep the truck, buy a high mpg car for the wife, have her saving money every day so you can afford to drive your earth pig anywhere you want. NO ofcourse you don't tell her that. Works for me. My truck can haul a lot crap too. That thing has survived 4 nationals now. It's been as far as Jersey and CO.

The last wife took off several years ago; couldn't handle my "lifestyle". I'm still missing her. Hopefully my aim will improve.

The only thing about my truck is I need it for work. A Honda civic won't lug around a 1500 lb pallet of tile. Oh yeah I just remembered my gf drives a civic I can take down. Things are looking up. However it is still hard to fit 2-3 boats tools and a set up table in the trunk, but it is possible.

Tony, thanks for the kind words about the lady. 5k to the cost of racing... Makes me feel better, after 500 this last week on chargers motors speedo, etc I feel like I'm still missing stuff. But at least it wasn't 5 grand. Sometimes I wonder I'd I could have had a Lil 21 footer with a 350 in it. Just something about rc though.

Congrats guy's. I had the SAW bug once. Decided I was already good at burnin stuff up and that I didn't to try to do it. :)

Tony - Your write-ups and videos are great. Our hobby would be dull without you in it.

I thought Legg Lake had a drivers stand. In the video most guy's are walking the shore. Is this a better view for SAW's.

Doug, since many of us SAW guys are old and decrepit, climbing them stairs don't cut it no more.

Thanks for the compliment - I love adding color commentary and pix to the events, after all, I truly are a "Legend in my Own Shower"

It would be wrong not to pay tribute to Mark & Kim Grim's dog Buddy, the original SAW Dog, by whose presence and reassuring demeanor one could spend a moment in quiet repose , stroking his head, and by his soft gaze be reminded that all will be just fine. I'm not kidding, either.

                        Thanks Buddy !

Hey guys finally got a chance to get online and post the official results. First off, what a weekend. The usual suspects were there in full force and as Brian mentioned lots of fast single and twin cats. The weather was pretty good for FE although air density was not optimal the gas and nitro boats although several incredible runs were made in gas sport hydro and gas catamaran. We missed Kim Grim and her wonderful cooking, but good camaraderie and bench racing was plentiful as always.

Many thanks to my fellow Amigos and particularly Brian for help and racers who took part in the SAW event.

Here are the official results. I have left out the hull/motor/battery/prop details in the chance the record setters don’t want it disclosed although the details will be on the NAMBA website once it’s updated.

Sorry Tony. For the record.....I would NOT recomend getting one as a cost saving measure. UnLESS she's loaded. Then go for it.

                              Doug,
The 2-lap/heat race area is at the far left end of the SAW course, it's nicest stand I've been on. It faces East. Glare, only early morning. June water temp, low 70's. The course is a legal 1/6 mile for gas/nitro, but I believe the corners are slightly larger with correspondingly shorter straits. I don't believe it's a record legal FE heat racing course (we just had too be different).
