Just bought an HK Apparition, Who has/had one??

    HK Apparition:

This will be my next project, so I'm going to start looking for parts now.

Will be looking for a 200amp ESC and I will run it on 4s and 5s (all batts 5300mah, 30-45c)

    1) whats the biggest motor i can stuff in this turd? (cause it looks real 'cramped' inside)
    2) any "tricks" or things I should know about this boat?
    3) post up some speeds and whatever set-up you ran.

I looked at youtube but you can't really tell speed from a video.

    thanks

003.jpg001.jpgI have the twin motor one no speeds yet, but it is a great running boat. I have about 20to25 runs on her and she been flawless. the setup is two 3650 3200kv on 3s 4400mah 40c. you are going to like that boat.001.jpg

Here is a link to my build thread I posted for mine before I sold it. Same hull as the Apparation.

I should have been more specific, mine is just a single. I'm not ready to tackle the "twin" build yet.
So would you recommend going with a different motor than you used (cause mine will not sit in the sponson but rather 'up top') and it seems to have limited space up there.

but both of your builds are sweet. I will do a twin one day

          thanks

Ive got a bare hull (River Cat) but its the same thing waiting to build as a single, ive done some research and either going to go with a Leopard 4074 2200kv on 4S or maybe an outrunner such as the 3740 Ben sells to run on 6S.

I have just picked up one of these and have been reading the threads here on them.

Mine is also a single engine, 1600kv with an etti 150amp esc with cap bank. Hoping to run 6cell as I already have plenty of 3cell lipos.

Never had a fe boat before so I hope it does not go up in smoke first time out!

I ran an 8Xl in mine on 4s. Fits under the hood quite easily so any of the 3674 size 2 or 4 pole motors around the 2000kv -2200kv would fit for 4s. Or the 1300kv-1600kv for 6s. The 40mm versions may fit but I haven't tried them.
Heres a vid of it on the 8Xl.

Last time I ran I flipped it and called it a day. Bad weather since..... Wires in the pics have been shortened.
Will upgrade escs when I have some spare $$$

                    Hi Guy's ,

Have had for a few years now for sport running , though bit of a pain trying to track down water seapage all the time . Over all I think they are great , mine has a Fiegao 8XL BL Motor & T120 ESC on 2X 4S = 8000mah for longer runs .

Just one bit of advice to new App. Owners , ensure ESC has been waterproofed with the coating they use , or enclose ESC & Receiver in balloons. Etc

You should have enough room to run from a 3650 to or about 4082 cause the tail of the motor is up in the bubble of the canopy. hope this helps

                        OK,

I did some research, watched some video, and asked some questions. Here are my motor choices for a single set-up,(200a ESC)

                        contestant #1 Leopard 4082 2200kv
                        #2 Fiegao 8xl 2084kv
                        #3 XL 3674-1845kv
Runner-up Medusa 36-63 2200kv (saw a video of this guy running, looked fast, but I guess they don't sell them anymore)

What do you guys think? What would you pick?
(my batts are a set of 2s and 4s both sets are 5300mah and 30/45c,
42x55 and m445 props. I plan to run in series and parallel sometimes, with a 200a)

                        thanks

For a single I would go with the:

Leopard 4082 2200KV (its the biggest!!!)
4s battery and M445 prop should be a great match. You should be able to prop up.

I've been offered this same motor for a good price so very tempted to run the same setup as you, are you running the wire drive with 4mm stub? How did u reduce the stuffing tube?
