What about one of these http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...or%5FBoat.html I run one on 4s in my genesis and it runs nice and cool on 4s with an x645 prop
Here is a vid of it with an x642 prop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tktvFB_IZoc the apparition is a slightly smaller hull so should be even faster.

Yes although I haven't tried personally I have heard from a lot of people that the HK motors are producing more power than the Leopard and Tacon range as they can handle bigger props. May be worth a try and would save you some extra $$$$

The 3740 is not happening now so back to the drawing board maybe a 4074 as mentioned above although a 4082 is not much more ;-)

You can count me in on this one also. The Apparition seems to be a solid, well built and very stable boat. It comes in 2 forms, 1 being hull only but I elected for the prebuilt model which is just 77$ more although it still requires radio, receiver and esc. Don't think I could build it for less with the hull only option.

I do have spare parts from my Spartan build which I intend on using which include a Tacon 1700 motor, a Turnigy T180esc and several Turnigy Nano Tech 3S 6000 mah batteries all of which I will run in the Apparition in 6S mode. Hopefully I will be looking at 50mph.

Snow, yours should run 50+ on a bad day!

If it does that effortlessly with cool temps I will be very happy. Will also be installing extra water pickups. Did I say I like lots of cooling water flow. I am thinking an Octura 220 SS prop.

Here is a nice comparison of stock Apparition boats, single vs twin motors. The single managed 43mph+ on 4S so yea I would say 50 on a bad day is about right on 6S. They go on to say that the single handles better than the twin. Nice comparison if you have not seen it yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iG5BN-N8YlY

Ok, i was going to throw a Leopard 4082 in the Apparition, then I read good things about the Turnigy XK4074-B-2000KV Brushless Inrunner for Boat,

I also saw the Turnigy TrackStar 4068 2560KV 1/8th Brushless Motor.which looked real good, and would fit better under the canopy of the boat.

but how would I cool it? (cause it has these fins)

anyone had any dealing with these two motors, is one going to kick the others butt on the water?
What do you think b4 I buy one?

                    thanks

The turnigy 4074 is a top motor in my opinion. Leopard jacket fits no probs too. Did you see the vid of my genesis using the same motor above?

yes i did, you gave me the idea for that motor, over the 4082 (plus I dont know if the 4082 will fit), but the Trackstar seems to have better stats. for big power(handle more volts), but if I cant cool it then its the Turnigy 4072 for me. I just wanted someone who has had a Trackstar to weigh in on the performance.
So if anyone knows, "spill it"

thanks for the info on that motor jamepl

                          Did you see this?

                          http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._Inrunner.html

I have seen one of these motors on 5s batteries and they are crazy powerful, 6s even better. They also seem to take a bigger prop than the equivalent leopard motor.

As a single motor Apparition, I would recommend keeping the KV at 2400 and lower. Someone is selling a KEDA 4074 2364kv motor in this forum. Its a fantastic motor. I had speeds of high 50s in my Pursuit(still needed tuning a bit so more speed is possible)

I did see that guy, I was just worried about that size "fitting" under the canopy. the stock motor is 60mm long and the 4082 is 82mm.

MAN, there is a lot of crap to consider
