P.S. I provide FE modified props to folks all over the world and I am happy to do this in my spare time to promote a hobby that I like to be involved in.
I doesn't matter what little emoticons get put there (and that emo was only on one of your posts) what matters is the words you posted, again what stands to be gained by what you said??? Simple- not a thing especially in an emotionally charged thread such as this one. Do I think it's great that you got a couple trophies in the ODMBA series this year? Yup sure do and truly I hope you get many more but that has little to do with what we are talking about in regards to your 2 posts. Likewise neither does your "respect is earned not demanded" statement. Don't know where that thought came from or why you decided to include it as I didn't demand "respect" but that does not concern me right now. What does concern me is things being said by you or anyone else that potentially undermines, even unintentionally, the hard work and effort being put forth by those in and around our district to grow and promote FE which is exactly what the kind of words you posted, sarcastic or not, can do. I've been down this road before and watched "sarcasm" create huge unrepairable riffs, we don't need this in D12 or anywhere for that matter. You don't know me at all but hopefully you will get to know me well one day and will learn what others do know about me- I will do anything I can to help out a fellow boater in need and support this hobby of ours but I will also rabidly protect the same no matter if it's fending off an all out assault or a little ill placed "sarcasm". We are raising interest right now and all it would take is someone not yet "into" FE from the nitro or even gas ranks to read what you wrote, sarcastic or not, and start some stupid rumor that turns caustic and undermines what we collectively are trying to achieve. Don't think it can happen? It already has, go spend some time reading on the gas board and it will become painfully apparent. We have been very fortunate in D12 that we've not allowed that gas vs. nitro BS to pollute our district and I want the same for FE. We are on to something big and if I'm a little trigger happy to protect it so be it. I want us all to be one big happy bunch of boaters in D12, you included. Anytime you want to chat feel free to pick up the phone and give me a ring, you might be surprised at the end of the conversation.

          All,
This is a Forum. It is open for everyone to express their opinions even if those opinions don't agree with your own. Please try not to "silence" someone from stating their thoughts in a civilized manner. If ones opinions undermine whatever you have worked on, that is NO grounds to silence anyone else.
Please do not feel like you have to bite your tongue in this or any other open forum no matter who or what the majority thinks.

It's not about "silencing" anyone Danny, but rather thinking about what one might be "saying" in an emotionally charged subject such as this one. We all know how sarcasm is all to often misread and how quickly things can get turned around so maybe a little thought put in to it before one hits that "post reply" button makes things better for everyone when there are strong feelings on either side of the fence. Bottom line is we are all in this together.

I haven't read anything but the first page and I'll say this. If IMPBA does put an ESC rule through, I'll give back my membership and ask for my money back.

This is insane, first batteries now esc's, when will people just quit already. On the majority these are toys for me and I get real peaved when someone wants to re-arrange my toy box.

While I can see points on both sides of the debate, one thing I do find somewhat advantageous to a spec class is the ease in which someone can get started and have a reasonable chance of success at winning a race once they get their driving skills polished. I think that when someone shows an interest in something less costly to get their feet wet they also will be drawn to keeping it simple with a few good equipment choices. Time and again it's proven out that it's far easier to give someone a "short list" of items to choose from to keep the confusion down not to mention they will feel less intimidated knowing they will have what others run and it doesn't become a battle of the wallets. If things need to be "tweaked" down the line due to availability of a particular spec'd item that's not that difficult to deal with at all when the time comes. This exact scenario has played out in the last couple years in the gas classes when classic thunderboat basically became a spec class being limited to a stock Zenoah G260. Yeah there were those who went kicking and screaming, threatening to quit, etc. But guess what? That is now one of if not the most successful new gas classes and has had nothing less than explosive growth. Being able to simply spend $250 on a stock G260 vs. the $600-$700 gassers spend for the dizzying choices of full mod motors is the main driving force behind it all. People get real excited over that class especially when you can tell them to pick a hull and buy the same motor eveyone else has to run, it's so simple. I see no real reason why we can't do the same thing here plus if you want to take it a step further keep the P class and just add P-spec. The nitro guys have this with the outboards- B stock tunnel and B tunnel which is wide open, the stock motor choices are limited vs. anything goes beyond displacement in the regular B class. Also, it's not unusual to see the entries for B stock to outnumber the B tunnels plus they can run the stockers in both classes which many of them do. Rather than burn all this energy about why or why not, let's look at the bigger picture- potentially expanding the ranks of FE. Like I said before, we are the smallest of the r/c factions and need to work together.

                              Toy boats my friends!!
