Hobbyking SS Boat Series 200A ESC

    FYI, check your cooling plate.
My was hardly passing any water ( not enough to provide proper cooling )
One noozzle was pluged by the material used to seal it in to the plate.
Need to clean and reinstall it.

That looks to be about what one should expect for a 200A ESC, lol! I need to buy one of those before they sell out. Do those have an auto detect voltage option or do you have to program them for a set voltage?

        Thanks for sharing!

Just got the 125 vers, and it seem's (without removing the shrink tube) that mine also has
one noozzle pluged by the material used to seal it in to the plate, ore teflon plate.

If the heat sink is sitting directly on the power wires, motor and battery how come it is not creating a short?

                    I see, thank you.
I was thinking of removing the heat shrink, lifting the cooling plate to inspect how good the contact with fets is. Maybe flating it out the soldering on wires and installing the plate back with PCU thermal paste for good contact but not sure if this is a good idea....
                    Any suggestions?

Here is few pictures of how poor is the cooling plate installed on the fets.
Arrows are pointing the only areas in contact with cooling plate
That is becouse one edge of the cooling plate is actually sitting on higher than fets soldering of motor cables.
4 boards total. 3 with fets and 4-th on the buttom with electronic's.
Only the top one with fets has the contact ( or should have the contact ) with cooling plate. There is no way this cooling plate will cool down properly second and third fet board.
NOT recomending this ESC to be used on high Amp draw...
So here you go guys, make sure to mod your ESc before use....
                      Cheers

Wow. The only reason I was thinking about getting one of these was because its rated for 7S and wanted to run 6S and not push it to 100% of its limit. The Turnugy Marine line is great but I don't see a 200A version above 90A.

Would some heat transfer epoxy work? Like what Castle, and others, uses on their boards. I've seen that stuff at Radio Shack.

...so to fix the top cooling only problem, flip, reverse the cooling plate to have water in and out nozzels on the same side the caps are installed. Make sure to slide the plate off the soldering of motor cables. Make sure to clean top of fets and buttom of cooling plate and reasamble with thermal tape or paste. Install the shrink tube on the end of the mod.
                            Is this making any sense?
                            I hope so...
                            Cheers

Maybe I can use this ESC after all....
If I could only change my brake option to OFF...
