lipo i also sanded the fet with a block and some fine sandpaper, i rebuilt a 100 amp after my first 200 went on the second the capd blew, i dont know why, i never pulled over 100 with the 200 setup up so i thought i was being conservative, also you can buy heat pad on ebay

Here are some shot's of my 125 amp. I had to pop it up to have a look, and it seems I'm not able to turn the cooling plate as it will hit the capacitor's
I'll maybe try to fit it as shown in the photo's. They had used Thermal Adhesive Tape of some sort ,ore, well tape of some sort, and you can tell that th midle row was not in contact with the cooling plate.Last edited by maxmekker; 02-10-2011, 05:18 PM.Drammen rock CityComment

I see the problem with yours.
Remember to file down a little your soldering of power and motor wires to get them lower than the cooling plate is, just in case.
I went to visit few computer stores and places fixing electronics and it looks like this thermal tape nonsense is only available on line.
Most of the places are suggesting to use PC to heat sink paste but i am not sure if the cooling plate will stay in place properly with the use of just that.

nice, what size shrink tube did you use?
I will give the cooling plate a go with sanding paper to even it out, and use both pasta and tape maybe in the corners to hold it in place while I get the shinking tube on. Still month's away here to open waters, so lot's of time to tinker with it.Drammen rock CityComment

Guys it's pretty much required to take these "value" escs apart and check the FET contact. The six or seven I have are all horrific on the thermal tape vs cooling block contact. I usually conformal coat the electronics good (except FETS), sand the factory coating off the FET very very carefully, then just use thermal epoxy and permanately affix the cooling plate to the esc with this stuff:

i had the same problem but mine is the 125amp. it had a bit of metal swarf from the brass inside it. heres a pic. also do i have to put the thermal pad back on cause i took it off and threw it in the bin and put the plate straight on top of the frets?? Do i need that pad?? thanks

Well from what i can read here you do not need the pad anymore. Just have to make sure its all superflat before you use the paste.DJI Drone Advanced Pilot

2.5 inch when flat...
