Genesis Cat with 4074 leopard motor

What sort of speed can you expect from a Leopard 4074/2200kv in a Genesis cat on 4s & will i get away with a HW seaking 120amp esc & what prop. Also same question going to 5s if possible or is that to high for this hull & motor. Obviously would be looking at 180-200amp esc on 5s, I already have the motor & a 120amp esc. Would it be much faster on either of these set ups than with the stock motor. Martin.

Id run that motor on a 180 amp esc.Your 120 wont last long at all.I also wouldnt run 5s either-unless its a twin drive.Rpm will be too high.If it were me,Id sell the 2200kv and get a 1500kv to run on 6s with a 180 speedo.

I don't think the 4074s come in 1500kv though, but the 4082 does and would be a better option. I think a 4082 1500kv with a seaking 180 on 5s should rip. The 4074 will work, but for sure not the best option for that boat and the 120 is going to be pushed to it's max. I run my 4074 2200kv with a 180 on 4sp2. Also 5s on that 2200kv is asking for issues. Crazy high RPM isn't always best!

not shure how much of a difference there is between the 2200 kv and the 2000 kv one.
but my genesis on 4074 2000kv 4s2p wil do low to mid 50`s.
not shure i would whant to run 120 amp on it though

Out of interest what speeds can you expect from the Genesis in stock form & what would be the best size prop to use on a stock boat & at what voltage. Martin.

You can run the 4074 2200kv on 4s in that hull.Just do it with a 180 amp esc.You can prob swing a pretty decent prop too,to get the speed you might be after. It would be a very cool running and reliable set up.
As far as stock,I dont know what they come with. But,Im sure whatever it is,the Leopard and 180 speedo combo would be much more reliable and longer lasting.
If youre wanting to run it stock, post what the set up is.Motor kv,esc, batts, prop.

                    A Castle Creations 1520 1600kV and 6S (2x3) should be a nice setup

I just pulled my Leopard 1400KV 4074 out of mine and put the Castle 1520 1600KV in it. I havent run it yet though. Leopard had no issues, just seein if theres much of a difference between the 2. Was and will remain a 6S boat.

The stock Genesis in the UK comes with a 3674/2270kv motor & 120amp Seaking esc, They state 4s but id think thats on a very small prop. What prop could you go up to with the Leopard 4074/2200kv on 4s in the Genesis if you go up to a 200 amp Swordfish esc. I believe that the Leopard 4074/2200kv is actually a 2150kv according to specs ive seen on the motor so every bit lower on kv helps even its only a small amount. Martin.

If I remember correctly, a member of the local club ran that motor in his on a Turningy 180A speedy and I believe he was turning a X640. It ran well in race conditions (high 40s) and ran cool.
