Yep. A few guys here run them. It's a cheap disposible alternative to the more expensive ESC's.

There are many on the market now that are the water-cooled version. I bought a couple Sky-wings but have to try them out.

They are en-route, so should have them by this coming weekend. I'm in FL, so 2-3 days to anywhere in the US. =)

I'll post up more info when they arrive. I just couldn't resist doing some research on these.
I am interested, how do you program them?

Note the the link above - no good for over 6S (in reviews) and no warranty for boat use.

I want to experiment with some thermal compounds and didn't feel like dealing with HiModel, so I asked my LHS to order a batch for me with water cooling blocks direct from Suppo.
Since I have Capacitors, Resistors and Coatings, I plan to set some up for testing and let the rest go. I'll post up details when they arrive. Until then I can't promise or hold any.

They are programmable by Tx. (see attached)
Glad to see you are doing this. I also bought a bunch of them to experiment with, you can check previous posts, and had good success. They are indeed a good disposable ESC. Like you plan I added cooling blocks, larger caps, new heat sink material, re-routed the wiring and conformal coated. In addition I hard mounted via thermal epoxy, Eagle temp sensors both on the caps and within the FETS. I certainly leaned a lot from a rather small expendature. Good luck.

I must be honest, why do you guys screw around with really cheap esc's and the possible damage they may cause, just my 1/2 cent and believe me I like a bargain.

I've found a thermal epoxy mix that is quite inexpensive, so the plan is to make a mold and mold a few of them in this epoxy mix with water tubes running through them. Some directly mounted to aluminum plates countersunk in to the bottom of the hull. Direct water contact at all times. If it works well with the cheap ESC's then maybe apply that process to a good expensive one and hopefully end up with a solid setup that is predictable.

Who knows, if the MFR approves of this process, perhaps they will start molding marine ESC's that are truly water proof and have excellent heat dissipation properties.

I know... a bit of dreaming. But fun non-the-less.
Anxious to hear your test results. Can you bottom water cool on a hydro or cat?
Had Tony and Brad run some FE's at my lake yesterday. Interesting that Brad had a HiModel 200 he added a heat-shrink cooling plate. Unfortunately he was running a really hot set up with Castle 1515, 2300KV motor on 6S that was proped wrong and running real wet. It lasted about a lap or so before his hull inside was graced wit that all to famaliar smell. Tony measured the temp of the ESC at 230F, so hot it burnt the power wires off the solder joints. Pics show the ESC post run. The cooling was not nearly good enough and I guess there was well over 200 Amps running thru it. I wonder if your poured thermal epoxy ideal would have survived? Circulating a cooled non conductive fluid line chilled mineral oil, directly thru the FETs may have been the only way to get out this massive amount of heat.

Super lucky with that esc burn-out, hardly no black goo thru-out the hull. Looks as if you set a burnt control in the nice new hull
